I totally disagree with you...I could not disagree with you more! Murray - He is good enough to play for a prem team but he doesn't want to be a bench player. He is an honest bloke who wants to play a key role for a club and so he would rather play for Brighton regularly...but that doesnt mean he isn't good enough. Jedinak - exactly the same thing...he wants first team football and Pardew said he couldn't ask him to sit on the bench for us week in week out (but Ledley and Mutch are ok for bench roles). It says a lot about his ability that he was more sought after than either Ledley or Mutch don't you think? To say Gayle isn't good enough for the prem just shows what a plonka you are...top scorer for us 3 years running or something like that??? After barely starting a game? On fire in the Champ??? He is prem quality all day long but he didn't suit our system...in some respects we were not good enough for him because we couldn't play with a front two. Murray doesn't want to be a bench player in the EPL - I agree but if good enough, he wouldn't be on the bench. Having said that, I think of the three he would have been the most effective had we kept him and I say this despite thinking it was a good bit of business at the time. Jedi, as much as I love his commitment and leadership, has to play regular 90 mins to be seen at his best (as does Murray)and I would debate that his leadership qualities make up for his technical deficiencies in the way that Terry's did at Chelski. Gayle - best natural finisher at the club when he was here. However, that didn't make him EPL quality. Couldn't be played up top on his own so you would have to adjust the whole team to suit one player. Scoring goals for fun at Championship level as we all knew he would. Playing in the best team at that level and getting plenty of chances. Good luck to him and I would have kept him over Townsend but it was the right move for him.
Before you criticise someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticise them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes. |

Jedinak, Gayle and Murray are all playing in the Championship for a reason, we all know they aren't good enough for the Premier. There wasn't any interest from other Premier managers for them. Because Alan Pardew/SP sold them.

I've been called deluded on here. But some of the calls for has-been players is beyond reason. Murray, past it. I loved (man-love) his goals in our promotion season. But he is not "Palace", like everyone says. He came from the weed, he went back to the weed. Gayle was bought as back-up to said FFS Murray by Holloway from Peterborourgh. He never did fit into our team. Whoever managed. And that includes the "saviour" Pulis. He was given plenty of chances, but never cut it. I can't remember how many threads were started about how poor Jedi was at passing or giving away fouls/penalties. Yet now, the cry is for him to return, even though he is clearly older than when he left, and therefore not as good (bad). I must go see my shrink.......

It's been a case of "be careful what you wish for" as far as the board and former manager felt at the start of this season. Back to the heart of CPFC, guts, fight, togetherness, as one with the fans. Been lost this past 2 years. Time to regain this is now. Absolutely spot on!

I think some people miss the point about Jedinak.

Jedi: somewhat similar on-pitch representative of BFS as Kevin Nolan, who normally follows BFS around. We need an enforcer of this type, and I'd rather have Jedi than Nolan. The ideal solution would be a younger version of either of the above, although I have no idea who might fit that bill...

I said I think they can all do a job in the prem...that they could be prem players. I never said they were 1st team prem players week in week out. I disagreed that all they were capable of was champ football. The notion that players playing well in the champ wouldn't be of any use at all to teams like ours is daft. I wish clubs had had that opinion before they took Moses and Clyne away from us...that would have been sweet. Edited by Hudsoneagle (07 Jan 2017 10.13pm)
