Don't hold your breath. Allardyce was a huge mistake and SP will reap what he sowed. None of the other teams in trouble were interested in Allardyce and rightly so. In 3 games he has lost the team and the crowd - he can crawl back under his rock, but unfortunately won't. We are buggered.

Still half a season to go. Last two times we were in this position we finished 13 and 10th. Transfer window and the capacity of the manager to fix the problems will determine whether we're back to games on Saturday 3pm and Tuesday 8pm... I don't like the bloke, but he's had barely a week, and three games in that period. The team looked knackered last night, and clearly didn't really have time to recover from the Sunday game.

But the team played with no energy against Arsenal as well and hadn't played for a week prior to that game!

Last night was awful. The overall performance was on a par with those from the dark days of the early 1980s - Dario Gradi, Tommy Langley, Brian Bason et al. It's a long time since I've felt so depressed about a Palace performance or prospects. My wife and I were talking at half time and said it had been a really under par performance but if we could somehow grab a goal it could put the pressure right back on Swansea and we'd see just how they would react. Thanks to a wonderful goal from Wilf, we had just that opportunity and, sadly, Swansea reacted just how I hoped Palace would. They upped their game, attacked Palace, scored and then efficiently and effectively closed the game off. To lose such an important game in such a lacklustre way can only erode their already fragile confidence. It's a statement of the blindingly obvious that if we keep playing like that and don't improve our performances, we will get relegated. I must be honest, I don't like Sam Allardyce and I didn't want him as our manager. But, he's here and he now has to do what he is getting paid a hefty salary and substantial bonus (no doubt), use his considerable experience and expertise to keep us in the Premier League. After last night, it's obviously going to be a huge challenge. The team is bereft of confidence, there seems to be no leaders on the pitch, the injuries seem to be never ending and we seem to have forgotten how to defend as a team. I'm hoping that last night was as bad as it's going to get and that SA will be able to turn things round, but it's going to be a massive challenge because if he can't - relegation looms. Which would be a disaster and have all sorts of negative repercussions, financially, administratively, organisationally, and structurally. This is going to be a tough task, the next 4 months or so are going to be challenging, but Crystal Palace have been through worse in my time as a supporter and my instinct is that we will turn things round.

Agree with you Jamie, nice bit of positivity too. People remember this team has been ingrained with a losing habit for a full year by Pardew , it will not be fixed overnight.

I do truly believe that if we could find a couple if 'warriors/leaders' to put in that team, get macarthur back and get a few games out of remy, you're looking at a pretty good team. Then it's down to Sam to get them fit and playing as a team.

Pathetic thread. We will not benefit from relegation and we are nowhere near down yet. We are not even in the bottom three yet. We do need to sign some fresh blood and stop feeling sorry for ourselves.

We are currently 4th from bottom and some of you want to chuck the towel in? FFS The transfer window is open for another 4 weeks to get in the players we need. Big Sam has never managed a team that has been relegated (look at the job he did with Sunderland last year and they were in a much worse position then than we are now!) Have faith people.
