If Sunderland were desperate to keep him, why would they publicize the bid? This sound s like they're trying to invite more bids. They're trying to bump up the price. If teams are in for a 'lot' of their players, why are the in the relegation zone?

They are £181 million in debt, 11th in Europe last financial year, 3rd in UK, 3 out of their last 46 transfers have made a profit (probably not a ringing endorsement in relation to our new manager). Jeremain Lens has stated that he wants them relegated to force a move. Look like an accident waiting to happen. In relation to Van Aanholt would be a good addition if we also sign at least one defender who can defend. Edited by Booted Eagle (14 Jan 2017 9.32am)

Edited by Booted Eagle (14 Jan 2017 9.32am) Not making a profit on player sales is nothing to do with Alladyce, he brought in Kone, Khazri & Kirchoff for £15m, the only players he signed, all three are still there and they'll profit on the sale of Kone alone.

Just to bump it up to the top again! Would be happy with him, long term left back, looks like Evra deal is now gone.
Just when I thought that I was out...........they pull me back in |

It does look as though a move of one player in and/or out is going to set off a few and that's where the quality signings are possibly/hopefully held up. Or we could just go out and buy immediately for 2 league matches.

This one must have legs given Allardyce admitted we're in for him. He's always looked dangerous as an attacking full back whenever I've seen him, so I like the idea. That would be a lot of pace down the left with Schlupp, too.

Would love van aanholt at the club but we have a good enough squad now don't need to throw money around it won't solve the problems we have just get rid of the players that are not pulling there wait which it seems like the whole team we ain't a bbad side we should be top half not bottom 3

Can you spot the massive contradiction in those two statements? As an absolute minimum, we need a LB/LW in this window, dependent on how we're proposing to use Schlupp, and there are other positions that should ideally be strengthened as well. But reducing our paper thin squad without getting in stronger replacements would be the quickest route to the Championship.
Bexley Dave Can you hear the Brighton sing? I can't hear a ******* thing! "The most arrogant, obnoxious bunch of deluded little sun tanned, loafer wearing mummy's boys I've ever had the misfortune of having to listen to" (Burnley forum) |

At the risk of sounding a bit Willo, people I know in the football universe (i.e. I have a mate who is a season ticket holder at the Stadium of sh*te) reckon PVA is OK going forward but poor defensively, although, apparently, working with Sam did temporarily improve his defensive play. Quite a few Sunderland fans would be willing to drive PVA here personally and the thought that anyone might pay £7 million for him is causing much merriment.
