And me. Gutted we are taking a huge gamble at this stage.

I liked Pardew up till the Man U random substitutions debacle (which I'm pretty sure he decided on using dice) but I think sticking with him would have been the bigger gamble.

It had been a long time coming. At most other clubs he would have been sacked last season. Credit to SP for giving him a chance to turn around results. Despite heavy investment in the squad result have remained poor, especially at home, and it's hard to justify to supporters keeping someone in the job who has provided very few home wins in 2 years.

I trust the board to get the right replacement, spend well in the window and for us to stay up. COYP.

I think his first twelve months and the cup final bought him the right to still be in the job over the summer, and then a bounce of three on the trot looked likely to be a sign of a turn. But ultimately, Burnley, Swansea and Hull were surely the final straw. Scoring 9 goals in three games, and taking only a point bad enough, but only Burnley out of those games were any good defensively.

No. I said before the Swansea game that he would still be in charge if we lost and beyond that which he was. Many on here were suggesting he would be out if we lost at Swansea.

...and yet on the Mind made Up thread not more than 3 days ago @ 12:43am you wrote "Pardew will be in charge for the foreseeable future"

The timing of these things always baffles me.
It would have made more sense to keep him on board for the Watford match, a game we have a chance of winning, then drop the news before Arsenal (a game we are not expected to win).
Now the players have the excuse of losing to Watford because they are in limbo.

£5m payoff and £3m buyout from Newcastle seems like it was worth it honestly. Saved us after the Pulis/Warnock shim sham. Great start to the following season. Some great wins. A cup final. Some great signings. Would have liked to have kept Jedi for leadership, but if we had made an £8m player signing that moved on after some good performances and some poor ones, we probably wouldn't moan much. Clap him off and move on to the next chapter.

Yep. its just a shame he couldn't find a balance between the first and second 12 months. Best premiership finish (from a doomed position), and a great start to last season, along with a cup final - He certainly delivered on the promise of the first 12 months.

Its just a shame that the next 12 months were the opposite.

Oh dear, this is the problem when you get foreign owners.

Hopefully it will be a British manager and not one who can barely speak Englieashhhhh.

You could be right. We will never know. We are not in the relegation zone at present. If a new man comes in and keeps us in the same position he will be lauded as a saviour.

6 months too late but better late than never. Last half of last season was terrible, the points and position did not reflect fairly on the team. The opening WBA game was an utter disgrace and reflected totally on Pardew's deficiencies as a manager as did the rest of this season. A five year contract was a mistake by Parish but now he's redeemed himself. 5 million quid? Yeh Ok, "thankyou Alan" I guess....
