I think the strikes are bang out of order

However (generally) unions should be able to retain the right to strike

correction, the image of trade unions, as put forward by the media, is out of date.

There just is no socialist daily paper so unless you have an understanding with tory rags like TB did then how do labour put their view across?

So who thinks its safe trying to get on a 4 carriage train with just a driver at Norwood Junction or Selhurst 20 minutes after a match.
Imagine that rush hour everyday
Southern need to have their franchise taken away before people are killed (if they haven't been already)

Stop talking bollocks.

They have been told they'll move to other roles but they're striking as they know people won't be kept, or new people re-employed, in a needless job forever. Eventually the number of jobs will reduce, like they will in every sector of work.

I suggest you stop thinking unions have done anything for everyone.

Quite agree, having just retired from the public sector, in a job where strike action was completely undermined by the Govt, perhaps Southern should be nationalised and the staff be considered public sector workers. Living in the Southern region this is making life for me and my kids unbearable, 30% of trains nationally have this operation with the blessing of ASLEF, this is a them and us situation, perhaps they should sack them all, it can't be any worse (now awaiting the lefties to attack!)

1. Anyone who has ever had paid holiday can thank unions.

2. I beg to differ.

3. What are you scared of?

Not everyone then. They didn't invent paid holiday either.

Feel free to, but you act like nothing in the world would ever change without them when it does all the time.

Not much that I can think of. Getting a new car the day it snowed like a b****** was probably the last time.

Their argument is like a supermarket checkout worker striking over self-service. And you know what the supermarket would respond with... more self-service tills.

I'd love to know how the striking workers would feel if they came home and found they had no power or gas because their supplier's employees were on strike?

They'd go and join the picket line in an act of solidarity.

Which just goes to show what self-serving c*nts they all are.

Wife beating may be socially acceptable in Sheffield, but it is a different matter in Cheltenham

You were born 50 odd years too late, Nick. The Boulting brothers would have had you in a starring role in 'I'm Alright, Jack'.

No they wouldn't, and you know it. They'd be just as pissed off as every other person suffering because employees of a monopoly service have decided to f*** them over, to vicariously inflict their employer.
