I disagree, he should be sanctioned and if he can demonstrate true remorse given another chance.

Look at Troy Deeney, a great example of someone who has sorted himself out and a great ambassador for his club.

Yes, I agree.

Btw "bottled" has been mentioned many times in this thread. I'd imagined this meant smashing a bottle and ramming it into someone's face. One article I read referred to him having hit someone on the head with a bottle. Neither action is in anyway defensible - but different levels of offence.

Cancel his loan deal, bring him back in-house and monitor, he clearly hasn't learned anything from his previous mistakes.

The problem with that is that if we bring him back he either won't play or else the current centre half in the development squad will lose his place to Innis

Doesn't matter, he needs to grow up first, prove that he can behave and not be another clubs problem. There plenty of big 21 year olds who go out happily without thumping each other. He shouldn't be drinking period.

I was discussing this with someone yesterday and they suggested that if you smash a bottle and ram it in someones face, that's regarded as a "glassing". To bottle someone is to hit someone on the head with a bottle.

Either way, a pretty scummy thing to do.

He is very lucky to be given another chance, as already said he needs to grow up fast.

Sounds like a good reason to stop drinking, lots of good people cant walk away when they have had a pint or three.

In my experience a lot of those people won't walk away before they've had a drink.

I enjoyed the earlier version. When you write in code it keeps us all on our toes.

My wife uses psychology which is far more damaging. The stitches were caused by a team mate (yes, that's right) punching me

This is the problem with the way that these kids are built up at the academy's - they are integrated into schools together and led to believe that they are better than everyone there that isn't in the academy and that they can get away with murder. I don't know Innis at all, have never met him and don't know if this is the case - for all we know, he could have been pushed to his limits on every occasion (I doubt it, but again, to reach any conclusion without the facts is complete speculation and I also fail to see how using a bottle can be justified regardless) but I know for a fact that a lot of the kids that get this treatment, if they haven't got the right network around them keeping them grounded, will end up as unbalanced adults.

"He had been out drinking with friends and the court heard that he has got into trouble before when drinking.

He has three previous cautions - one for a public order offence in 2011, one for common assault in August 2015 and one for being drunk and disorderly and resisting a police constable in March 2015."

He sounds just like "a good lad"

Gotta wonder sometimes just how assertive a lot of you lot would be once stepping aside from your keyboard. All entitled to an opinion, don't condone anything he's done myself even in the slightest, it's completely wrong, but to tarnish someone's entire character by making comments that "he's always been a wrogen" and basing that on the fact that your from the same area is just spreading horse s***, if anything it's as he's got older that he's started getting into a bit of agg - purposely avoided a lot of trouble that was going on around him daily to dedicate himself wholeheartedly to football and making it as a professional footballer, channeled a s*** load of negative energy into something positive and did it at a very young age. Upbringings can often bring hidden demons out that a lot of us wouldn't even have the first idea how to deal with, it's never an excuse but people are always so quick to judge instead of recognising people's accomplishments and the s*** they've overcome to achieve them. Like I've said it's not what people think about this particular incident or the ones that have just come to light that bothers me, he's got responsibilities. I just thought I should step in and defend someone I know personally very well when someone else is making statements and spreading bulls*** with no substance. But forget that you all clearly know the kid more than me and your all holier than thou without a single skeleton in your closets.

For what it's worth, I actually also agree with this wholeheartedly, there's certain maturing and life lessons that usually only comes with real life.
