..his positioning was OK for the expected cross, nobody in the ground expected him to shoot like that, bit unfair to say it was embarrassing I think. You're right. Embarrassing isn't enough, humiliating would've been more accurate.

What are you lot all moaning about, what a joke of a thread! Butland is Injured, Forster is injured, that's Englands #2 & #3 out so Heaton was called up. Ben Foster has retired from international duty so it would have been him called up in Forster's place but seeing as there are actually no other English keepers in the Premier league who have been called up before, McCarthy got the call. Good luck to him!

Yes, good luck to him. By the way, I'm free on Sunday evening if England need me.

Good luck to him! I'm not sure "Moaning" is the right word - just many who view McCarthy's inclusion with incredulity and speculating as to whether he would have got the call if he was still at our club and not No 1. But your post has highlighted the real lack of choices available to Allardyce given that only 4 PL clubs' No 1 keepers are qualified to play for England. Edited by Willo (02 Sep 2016 9.59am)

He's so unbelievably bad. I don't understand how Southampton, who should know better with the scouting they have, thought it would be a good idea to buy him. Stealing a living, and now maybe even stealing an England cap. Surely there are better keepers that are actually playing games that could be called up?
The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money. |

John ruddy and karl darlow are two goalkeepers that spring to mind, daniel bentley is promising, you als have rob green who is getting on a bit and scott carson at derby these day or luke steele playing for panathinakos. To be fair not much choice, but darlow ruddy and green have looked far more capable then mccarthy ever has. I would of gone for karl darlow, very promising gk.
