POTY - largely because of his performances since xmas. Got the gong from the fans as we recognised that, in the absence of Bolasie, he was 3-man marked, rotation fouled [statistically the most fouled player in the division] but still managed to play through the pain and agro for the cause. He deserves the pay rise. As such, while all are entitled to their views, the one highlighted does not seem to have a passing acquaintance with any reality I recognise. 100% agree with you. I seem to remember after Christmas pretty much anything good that we did came from Wilf. He certainly deserves financial parity with Connor Wickham IMO.
"Brighton are talking about how they're coming for us. And it's like, we've been waiting in the Premier League for you for ages." Wilfried Zaha, 2017. |

Zaha's agent will know that there are other players on significantly bigger and that with the departure of Bolasie they have a bit of a bargaining chip of being one of the only decent wingers left in the squad. I guess everyone has got nervous because we let Bolasie go so they probably think "oh god, who else would we sell if the price was appealing?" but in reality, I expect the club will give him a payrise, which contextually is deserved and they'll put this matter to bed.

I don't believe anything I read or hear anymore. A tad simplistic, we can't just give players what they want. We wouldn't last the season. For a start different positions command different salaries and then you have actual ability. Zaha should get more just as several other players should now be on more, Jimmy Mc springs to mind. You can't however just pay him more to keep him happy when we don't know how much will make him happy.

So much pompous indignation going on here. We seem to have a group of players who along with there agents have little grasp on reality. Players like Wild and Yala seem to believe that because they got us up and they can perform a few tricks with the ball they should whatever happens be among the highest earners at the club? Absolute tosh! Yala loved the club he moved to the footballing powerhouse that is Everton. Folks forget Wilf showed his love for the club not so long ago by signing for Manure. We need to buy better players in order to consolidate and we have in players like Townsend a proven international. Players like Wilf should be thinking 'great I can learn from these guys,' whereas all it seems they do is listen to an agent (someone who makes money by them moving,) saying they can get this and that elsewhere. Maybe Wilf should ring the Bostock family to discuss just how much greener the White Hart Lane grass is.

What is all this fuss about Zaha? Stats only tell part of the story. I was surprised that Wilf's stats were as poor as they were but given the second half of the season maybe I shouldn't have. Wilf is often doubled and even trebled up on at times, this creates space for other players. He is far from the finished article but at the going rate he should be paid more - though not as much as he thinks.

I guess my problem also with this whole saga is that Wilf and others in the Squad keeping seeing players of a similar quality coming into the club on bigger deals,Management and the board are naïve if they think agents stick to confidentiality agreements. Also on Wilf /Townsend ,it won't be long before teams realise that Townsend scores nearly all his goals by cutting in and that he is not great with his right footed crossing. Also poor old Wilf has in the last two or three games had three of the opposition over to him as soon as he got the ball ,perhaps if our midfield were making runs into the box he would have had something to aim at!!! Cabaye is so much better when he is an attacking midfielder a role he's had the chance to plat twice at Palace since he joined

Had to laugh the Spurs manager calling Wilf 'The New Ronaldo!' So how about 25 million for Wilf plus Harry Kane seems reasonable now.

Wilf cannot leave Palace. We named our cat after him. I'm not changing it to Townsend and I'm certainly not going to be calling in a Spurs winger for his tea. Think once Wilf knows this he'll definitely stay at Palace.
