We saw what Defoe did last season as a lone striker. This would be a great signing that I doubt will happen. Yes, he's 33. But even if we only get two seasons out of him if it ensures premier league survival then why not? A bit like with Kevin Phillips a few years back this could be an inspired signing. Defoe does most of his running in the box, making clever runs before finishing. Up top with a wickham or benteke then I reckon he'd still get into double figures with us. It's NOT about survival, players like Benteke haven't come to us just to stay up lets please stop thinking 17th and instead top 8 an pushing a Europa place, we MUST have a winning mindset.

There are too many jerks who are willing Pardew to fail. It's pathetic. Read through past threads and you'll see that I am very much pro-Pardew however we just seem to be linked with strikers and not with other key positions e.g. replacement for Bolassie. After all the effort spent trying to get Benteke over the line, it seems like a continuing marathon effort to attract other required Premiership standard players.

Defoe & Benteke would make a fantastic partnership, but can't see Sunderland selling him. They've only him and Borini as senior strikers. Also he's recently signed a new contract to 2019. OK that was under Allardyce, but Moyes accepts he's facing a relegation battle and surely won't sacrifice Defoe's goals which have kept Sunderland up 2 seasons running.
