Like him or hate him,he knows where the goal is and its what we need.
If the 6 month contract is true I think it would be a good deal for us.
Pards won't take crap from him.
If he had been with us for the Black cats/Swans /Cherries games and knocked a couple in we would be 6/9 points better off than we are now....on the other hand if my auntie had bollux.

I see this potential move as a back up - we aren't going to waste money going after players who aren't on the target list or don't fit the profile so this is eminently sensible.

You get a top class PL Centre Forward for relatively little risk or outlay in the grand scheme of things should a Remy or Austin or Batman or Babacar or Zaza not come off.....

In CW's absence who would you want up front to lead the line and give a threat

a) Campbell
b) A patently still very rusty Chammers
c) Gayle
d) Adebayor

Yes, a good back up plan if longer term deals for Austin or Remy dont come off. However, he might take quite a while to get back to matchfitness as he hasnt actually played any matches this season

I read this with trepidation as I can't think of a single incidence when what is in effect bringing a front man out of 'retirement,' has been anything but a disaster. (With possibly Paul Scholes at Manure as the exception.)

We had Brolin and more recently Davids as examples.

Not sure why we see the need to shop in the bargain basement.

I am getting the feeling that we are after two strikers Adebayor and another. Wouldn't mind Adeybayor and Remy up top with Shelvy and Cabaye behind. Short term Adebayor could be a good move

This roller coaster I am on just won't stop.

I cant say I am a fan of Adebayor but we do need a striker and he does know where the net is, there is little initial outlay involved and he also badly needs a shop window to show the footballing world he still has something worth buying.

SP & AP can still try and capture their other transfer targets but I think on the right contract this could really work for us.

Also trying to prise top strikers from other clubs could go to the wire in this window, cost a lot of money (possibly overinflated) and we need one NOW!

Firstly that watch collection was a repost of a picture posted by Joseh Frost who owns Frost's of London the jewellers so it wasn't even his collection, poor journalism typical red top garbage nothing story.

Secondly who cares who much his watch collection is worth anyway it has nothing to do with any of us or his ability to perform on a football pitch. Footballers have obscene amounts of money at a young age I'm sure Messi and Ronaldo own a number of ostentatious material things who gives a flying uck what footballers spend their hard earned on.

Thirdly never thought I'd say this but yes please! Perfectly fits our style, proven in this league and is a top 4 striker when motivated. 6 month heavily incentivised deal would be a shrewd move. If money is what motivates him then use that, he would not only be working to earn himself the best wage every month but working to earn a contract somewhere at the end of the season. Albeit a contract elsewhere as if he plays well we probably wouldn't pay his wages in the long run.

"does" or "did" as he hasn't played in over a year and it will probably take him until the end of the season to get match fit

I don't much care about what is/isn't the truth about his upbringing, attitude and where he puts his money.

What is true is that he hasn't been that bothered about playing football for the last few years so why would he suddenly find his appetite again with us? He's more interested in pursuits outside of playing football, which is fair enough, his decision, but we need someone hungry and willing to fight. All the ability in the world is nothing if you have no desire to use it.

There's no denying his ability, I just worry that he'll bring a bad attitude to the team. The one thing palace can pride themselves on is team spirit, and I'm not sure he can contribute to that if he decides to have a tantrum and be a pre Madonna.

Well worth a read, particularly if you have been completely sold the Adebayor bad egg line.

Thanks for that, laddo
I do have some sympathy for him but my comment about the watches indicates that he has forgotten where he came from and that there are millions of people in a far worse predicament than he was in. I find it abhorrent that any person would spunk £100k on a watch. I'm not saying he should be giving that money to charity- but it's a little insensitive to say the least. And I would say that about any idiot who posts show-off photos of this ilk on social media. He knows how this will be perceived, and does it anyway. Successive managers have lost patience with him- if the man is genuinely a decent guy who is a hard worker and totally misunderstood then why does he keep finding himself in this situation, over and over again?
Which leads me to believe he is just bad news- like he's giving everyone a big middle finger because he's tired of being judged. He strikes me as angry and petulant and we simply don't need that in our club.
Pardew is quite obviously a great man-manager but I think even he would struggle to get the chip off his shoulder. No doubt he has massive ability but it's an enormous gamble
