Would definitely prefer this over Sakho I remember watching Sakho perhaps 3 years ago and he just didn't seem comfortable in possession but this might have been down to confidence.What he does give is a bit of balance as he is left-sided and although he is primarily a central defender he can also play at left-back.

I remember seeing Fonte play for Palace in preadministration days, and he seemed then, a genuinely talented defender. We would probably get a couple of good years out of him...But I imagine silly prices being quoted

FONTE UPDATE West Ham are close to agreeing a deal to sign Jose Fonte from Southampton, Sky sources report. Talks are continuing today and a fee of £8m is being discussed for the central defender. Fonte has handed in a transfer request and has been told he can leave Southampton this month.
