Knocking a 'big' club like Leeds out of the play offs. Recently beating prem league opposition. For a club who average about 10 thousand yeah I'd say that's punching above our weight.

All this talk about their being no palace fans in new cross or Peckham does anyone even care if you were to ask the average football fan to name a team from south london at least 75% would probably say palace maybe if you asked them to name a team from Kent they might edge gillingham out in the popularity stakes
walking down the holmesdale road to see the palace aces! |

The thing is proper south London now couldn't be further from the blue collar working class identity that Millwall fans have always been so proud of. That is 100 times worse than being called a nigel.

yeah, they dont like us one bit but west ham are there proper rivals, i went to palace and millwall for years in the 80"s,west ham and millwall had to be the top rivalry anywhere in london, arsenal got a reputation a bit after, dentons time, had big numbers, think the spurs boys kind of took over in past ten years, maybe a numbers thing again, lots of other teams as well but numbers count, thats where millwall done well on smaller numbers, tight firm, but you got to give credit to west ham , mile end mob, bill gardners time, icf, organised, bit old for all that now but it was fun at the time

We (Millwall) have been a south London club for far longer than palace have. We crossed over the water in 1915. Selhurst Park was in Surrey up until 1965 so we've officially been a south London club for 50 years longer than palace have. I'm not gonna lie to you now, I'd rather The Palace be seen as a Surrey club (even though we're not) than the fact that we're only 6 miles down the road than you poor white trash.

Edited by Wippa (15 Jan 2017 11.23am) As i said in a previous post, I've never once said Palace are an inner city club. We are located in the south London suburb of south Norwood. Nothing wrong with that. When i said I have seen a few Palace in New Cross/Peckham, it could mean that they could just be in the area for whatever reason and don't even live there. When it come to these places as well as places such as Walworth, Camberwell you have the majority of the support If it is one thing i agree with other post posted is that most of South London is dominated by both Arsenal and Chelsea. You go to places like Wandsworth and it feels like chelsea city. Both us and Wall being the most supported clubs based in south London.. Never met a Charlton fan in South London central. Well certainly not in the London Borough of Lambeth anyways.
