Most fires and displays are on the weekends either side of the 5th too.

There seems to be plenty of interest from recruits willing to sign up to these new, ever so harsh, pay and pension conditions.

Of those striking it will not affect the majority of them, at all.

Bus exploded outside my Dad's office today in Wallington. Police immediately took control of the situation, created a 500 metre cordon and worked to allow Firefighters an easy route in. Firefighters immediately tackled the blaze up close. Paramedics came and sat on standby ready to get involved if this situation called on it. f*** the government, stop trying to rob front line emergency service pensions.

They aren't. It's for new recruits and the rest signed up to the changes in 2006.

Factsheet, not rumour.

You may think a "fact sheet" produced by (what is in effect here) an employer in a "dispute" situation will objectively summarise all of the pros and cons (and I choose the latter word advisedly)in an objective manner.I suspect not

Funny how another "fact sheet" doesn't make the same points

and for some balance, some facts from the other side to the dispute.

That's not a factsheet, it's one of the worst media outlets in existence, but I'm not disputing that new recruits will have to pay in more or work for longer. They will.

Fitness tests and 60 year old firemen are a non-argument.

MPs are selfish c***s. I agree.

I was simply seeking to show up the rather arbitrary and incomplete nature of the Government's (employer's) "objective" "fact sheet".

But on Parliament we agree completely. I worked there at one time. Rightly described as the "best club in London" for Members of the Commons and Lords(though not for the workers who at the time because it is a royal palace weren't then even subject to the protection of health and safety legislation, though MP's bars could remain open well into the wee hours for the same reason while the rest of us in the country were generally subject to 10.30pm/11pm closing).

Direct your fire (no pun intended) away from the firemen...they are not the ones to be mad at...

I don't attack firemen. I disagree with their reasons for striking.

Erm read your (incredibly biased) fact sheet again. It is. They are forcing people on the 1992 scheme to change to the 2015 scheme despite a ringfenced agreement that this would not take place. Essentially they are robbing firefighters pensions.

It's not mine, it's the governments, and facts are not biased.

They're not robbing them, as you've said twice, they're making them (slightly more) viable and it only affects future, not past, contributions.

And people joined under the auspices of the previous agreement and ergo they are being robbed of the pension that was agreed. Keep up Stuk.

Same for the rest of us with the state pension.

Nothing is being robbed, we're all just getting it later. It just sounds better to use words like "stealing" or "robbery". Phone the police if you're getting robbed. See what they say.
