Right ... I outed myself as a depressee several years ago on here. Have since divorced and obtained a criminal record (for something I didn't do) in the process ... Like you I have kids ... I LIVED for my time with them ... Back then it was every other weekend ... Ex-wife had a restraining order on me so my dad had to take them home ... Hearing my daughter shout "I want my daddy" as he drove off was heartbreaking to say the least. I've kind of sorted myself out ... I have my own place ... Still on the happy pills (Citalopram) when they work, they work ... See my kids most days (school runs).
They say hard work never hurt anyone ... but why take a chance? |

Bearing in mind the last couple of weeks.... I would advise the OP not to consider being an airline pilot.

I was diagnosed with depression following divorce. I was not prescribed any tablets, but had a course of CBT sessions. What helped for me was: Look to the future and not dwell on the past. Take up sport / exercise. Try to make plans so you have things to look forward to at the weekends / in a week / months time Early on, one of the hardest things was having free time. I was fine when working, and in the evenings but weekends were really difficult. Its one of the reasons I decided to buy a season ticket and come back to football, as most weekends that would be two hours to the palace, two hours at the game, a few hours post game and then another two home. Then Sunday I'd do all the house work. For me, meds are a necessity of life, but some people its short term, and others not necessary. But CBT was just as vital it really gave me tools to change my behaviour. The hard part maybe was accepting that the person I used to be was gone, and if I wanted to stay well I had to become someone else.

I've struggle more with anxiety than depression but I can relate to everything people have talked about. For me a combination of pills and counselling helped wonders. It takes time and there are ups and down but stay with it all. I see it a bit like study do the hard yards first then you get the rewards later. The one thing that has been constantly there is Palace. Going to Palace has always been a way of getting away from the problems. I remember turning up to one game vey anxious and certain I was going to have a heart attack but by halftime I was into the game and fears had gone.
The ups and downs of Palace have left me older than my years |

I think you need to post up some pictures of the women concerned before we can offer proper advice. Sorry, but this is the HOL.

To the OP, if you still need help I'm a qualified counsellor and would be happy to help you find a therapist if that's what you were looking for. PM me if you'd like any help in that way, or for just a chat if you want. (This also goes for anyone else who might like any help in this area.)
