been having little think ( dont worry i sat down)

looks like we we may beat the drop and have out first consecutive season in the premier league ever, and it feels good! and i honestly believe its our time to establish ourselves in the league.

it may seem strange but i think i would miss fighting for promotion or the playoffs in the championship, and although sometimes sickening, heart attack inducing, abut allways hugely exciting, the almost guarenteed relegtion battle.

if this was to be a new era in out clubs history would anyone else secretly miss our yoyo antics. i think i mite.

Interesting debate, a lot of if's to consider... Personally, I fully expect Palace to stay up from here with relative comfort and if Pulis stays I would expect a mid table finish next season. The man is a class act and knows what he is doing.

If this did happen I personally would find it a great shame and would probably stop going to Palace after 15 years. Mid table Premiership football is something I have feared for many a year and fear it could be the case with us soon. Who wants to be stuck in mid table each season with nothing to play for for the last 3 months of the season? (i.e Southampton and Newcastle this season). Only a season in the Europa League would change this for me, but I don't think it's realistic.

I prefer the old grounds with character, cheaper ticket prices and being able to buy a ticket for any game without worrying about having enough membership points. The atmosphere has changed this season for the worst, there is a new breed of Palace fan who moan when we're losing. Was much better last season when we roared the team to win from behind against Cardiff, Burnley, Charlton etc.

The quality of football will no doubt be better to watch, but what substitute is that for all the bad that comes with it? I guess that's a matter of opinion.

I think you have sort of answered your own question. Since January, probably only 2 teams have felt that they have nothing to play for out of 20. Even 2 weeks ago, there were probably only 4 teams who were in that position. If we say that the top 6 or 7 are out of our league, then we fight to come 8th, which is where Southampton are now. And, if I was a Southampton supporter I would be saying that they have won 'their' league. That should be our target next season.

But where's the excitement in pushing for 8? I'd rather be in a relegation battle. What has The Premier League become if teams celebrate winning the 'mini league' and finishing 8th?

realistic, I think. The days have gone where the Forests and Ipswich's can break into the top bracket but, for me, finishing 8th in the Premier League would be the equivalent of winning (and anything above 13th would be our 2nd best finish in 109 years!)

Am I correct that finishing 8th is only one place away from the Europa League if the FA Cup finalists and League Cup winners finish top six?

So you still may have had an exciting season following Palace.

After winning the playoffs, although delighted I did feel slightly empty at the fact we'd be playing in the Prem this season. However, now we're there it's definitely the place you want your team to be.

On the subject of mid table, I remember seasons of being a mid table Championship team, which to a club of our size feels like failure. Finishing mid table in the Prem however, would obviously be a massive achievement.

So finishing mid table and ..still bringing through the likes of....

Victor Moses
Jim Cannon
John Jackson
Nathaniel Clyne
Kenny Samson
Gareth Southgate
Clinton Morrison
Vince Hilaire
Sean Scannell
Dean Gordon
Wilfried Zaha
Richard Shaw
Jonathan Williams
Ben Watson
Wayne Routledge
Tom Soares
Hayden Mullins
John Salako
Martin Hinshelwood
Paul Hinshelwood

....yes please and we will have a far greater chance of keeping them! ...and pushing on instead of starting all over again

...and who knows how Mr John Bostock could of turned out if he had his head screwed on by the likes of Pulis.

.......has our coach driver done a Poo'yet, without thinking about Gus!

No the final europa spot goes to the top squad in the fair play table which isn't already in european competitions. We are actually one away from the spot this year.

Don't worry, we aren't a mid table club.

There will be drama, we will either be fighting for our lives, or soaring to great heights. It's what we do. It's in our DNA.

Look at Norwich. Survived first season, spent a lot in the summer, and are still fighting relegation this season, so plenty of drama to come in the PL of the snakes and ladders variety!

I agree that one decent season doesn't guarantee survival but look at Southampton and how they've fared under a good manager and a squad partly sourced from their own excellent youth programme (...and a bit of ours!!!). If we survive this first season back in the PL then I'm sure we'll go on to bigger and better things.

(a list of pretty good players) +

Not quite sure how they made that list and -for example- Jolly Rodger didn't! Agree with the rest though...

Never diss the Doris.

Nope, I think the mists of time are playing tricks on Kermit. Firstly to say that Doris was any good....Well, he didn't get the name Doris for nothing and to say that Jolly was OK
