In a team that generally dominates play and creates lots of chances then the 'unseen' off the ball work that Glenn does is a rare but very valuable skill that is largely overlooked by most supporters, Ian Rush, Micheal Owen to name but a few possessed these this skill ie the ability to time runs, know what space to fill, anticipate the play.. We were that team last season... This season we are not, every player needs more than there base skill, a forward needs to have speed, chase, hassle, tackle back, create.. Be honest to yourselves, really don't be Glenn Murray blind.... Does he possess all the above ? Jerome does,
and it's goodnight from me....... |

If you read my post properly you would see that I said he was EXACTLY those things, I am saying that is all well and good in the right team with the right players around playing a certain way ie last season.. I think you would agree we have not been playing like that for the vast majority of this season, ie we have tried to 'hold and hit' so IMO you need a different type of forward, I have never slated Murray just pointing out its horses for courses. If we can play like the 2nd half today and the 1st half like we did against the Spurs then Glenn for me would start, Lets hope after today TP realises if we come out positive and try to actually score by attacking instead of soaking up (against the big teams fair do's)then we are at least as good as anyone in the bottom half and if we do adopt that style then yes Glenn should be picked, if we dont and play negative 19th century stuff then the outlet surely has to be someone different up front IMO like Jerome..

He should be battling it out with the unfairly maligned Cameron Jerome as cover for Chamakh and we will see where he is at the start of next season. Based on his performance today, I think it's a stretch to say he's "unfairly maligned." Their players today could have played one-two's with him all day and he would have been none the wiser. He has the touch of a trampoline.

Murray certainly made an impact when he came on at half time in place of Ince. Well done TP for the switch and turning it around after a poor 1st half. As an aside, Murray has now scored in all 4 top divisions. Apart from Johnny Byrne, have any other players achieved this feat, who have played for Palace at some point in their career? Due to the injury he had he's obviously been slowly integrated back into the team but perhaps he could start Saturday and potentially last the whole game if needed.

When he failed to put Yannick through on goal with a simple 8 years pass and instead found a Swansea player I was floored. I agree Murray looks the better option of the two.
