There was a fight in B block around row 22 nearing half time. f***ing pathetic that some are acting like the scum from down the road. The 'big' games bring out the pikeys.

Block B comment of 2011/2012 Season:

"That's better Palace, better...but still fucking shit!"

I went into the Clifton arms beforehand he game as the stadium didn't open in time for the rugby like it said it would ..... I was in there 20minutes and will never go back. There were a few 'fans' who were just vile, sung a song about cantona then the air crash at this point another fan turned around and told them to be quiet it was not something to be singing about and they tried to start on him. It's a small minority but it's not what we want at palace! Songs with a little bit of taking the piss is fine etc but songs about a tragic event and then coin throwing is pathetic.

Songs about David Moyes' daughter being a slut was uncalled for and brought shame and embarrassment to the club.

Agree completely. I felt sorry for Moyes - not sure what he's done to deserve such abuse. This football club is rapidly going down hill - success on the pitch has begun to attract the wrong sort of fans.

^^ This. Shameful behaviour today. We have the best fans? You're having a laugh!

oh my god..
I honestly cant belive what im reading!!! If people are so easily offended a football match is not the place to be. Im not condoning coin throwing but we are not the first club to do it and wo nt be the last!! As for some people "feeling sorry for moyes" you really need to grow a pair. Im sure his bank account every week will keep him from losing any sleep over the working class palace fan having getting out sone frustration by having a pop at him!! And yes we do have the best fans. Grow up !!!

I'm intrigued by the concept that a football match has to be some type of primitive baiting pit for working class numpties to vent their rage against the system and represent their 'tribe' by aggressive and abusive behaviour? I would think being the 'best fans' would include correct and decent behaviour along with making lots of noise and supporting the team no matter what.

A little banter is good fun, but pelting people going about their employment because they are a) are high profile, b) you don't like the team the play for, or c) you side isn't winning...isn't the sign of a good fan, but someone who can't take it when things get a bit tough.....making Selhurst Park an intimidating place to come to doesn't include moronic behaviour that could see the owners fined.

Tactless and unnecessary jibes about Moyes daughter because of some alleged issue with the 'darling of the terraces' Zaha really is pathetic and lacking in good grace that would only seem to spur the other side on, and devalue our own good image

Hopefully the perpatrators of these stupid acts will be caught on CCTV and get their just reward.... If you thing I am over-reacting than think about how today some papers are reporting on the moronic acts and not the brilliant display from the Holmesdale end

I stand in C and to me it looked like it generally came from the middle of block B (row 15ish) so I don't think it was the HF.

There was quite a big scrap in the stairwell shortly after - was this to do with someone having a go at a coin/lighter thrower or was there a Manc giving it large in B?

To add to that, I don't think the abuse was personal to Rooney. Januzaj would have taken equal (probably more as he's a diving cheat) abuse but seemed to bottle it. Whoever took their first corner down there was in for some stick.

I loved the banger and the hostility created down there but throwing objects is dangerous and not at all clever. Probably a fine on the way.

I have mixed views about all I have read here.

Firstly, I would never condone violence. I took my three year old to his first game vs West Brom two weeks ago and as a dad nothing would make me madder than seeing him scared at the sight of grown men fighting. Football has become far more family orientated over the last twenty years and that for me is a good thing.

However, at the same time I enjoy the segregation. I love going away and standing with my own and I relish the banter between a home and away section. In my twenty three years of supporting palace I have rarely seen such banter turn really nasty. Even Sheff Wednesday away was pretty much handbags when you analyse it.
The day football becomes like rugby where you can sit with an opposing fan and laugh and joke about the game in front of you will be the day i stop going. I enjoy the game but I also enjoy the tribal nature of supporting your club for that ninety minute period.

Yesterday was odd. Whereas the coin throwing was bang out of order block B did create an intimidating atmosphere for the opposition which I for one don't have a major issue with. Throwing coins though is unacceptable and ruins our reputation as the best fans in the prem.

That said, for those who think such a foul and nasty greeting for Mr Rooney was slightly harsh need to remember this particular moment in the link below. Sometimes vitriol is relevant to ungrateful little pricks. Just leave your hard earned cash in your pocket.

Throwing things at players is extremely cowardly and pretty pathetic. I have (slightly) more respect for the bell-end who ran on the pitch against WBA. He's clearly a tool but at least he treid to go one on one, face to face.

Shouting and boo-ing loudly would achieve the desired affect Im sure. Footballers, and especially Rooney have massive egos. To know that hundreds, if not thousands of people say what they think of him that'll do fine and in my mind is perfectly acceptable.

I like the idea of Selhurst being hostile and uncomfortable for opposing players but you must know where the line is drawn - its only a football match.

You'll be forever in my family's memories and it was an honor and privilege to play and lead in the red and blue

It's a simple law of averages, IMO. With increased attendances comes an increased number of dickheads, and when attempting to create a highly charged atmosphere (which is essentially what we pride ourselves on) there will always be those who get overexcited and take it that bit too far. Let's face it; when claiming to be "against modern football" (a vague phrase at the best of times), these sorts of things were a constant occurrence in the golden era many hark back to - a time many involved aren't actually old enough to remember.

Not saying anything described here is necessarily a good thing, and if those involved got "shown the error of their ways" by those around them then so much the better. But, it's very much an occupational hazard.
