I was there at the match and most away games in the championship. However since promotion I've not managed to get a ticket due to the new points season. Living away from London having a season ticket is not an option. So I find myself in a strange position in that the only way I'm likely to get a ticket to watch a Palace match again is if we get relegated but I wantbp us to stay up. I hate this predicament

I also have only had a season ticket for this season - though I purchased it at the earliest opportunity last season. I will not be renewing my ticket for next year regardless of the league as due to a change in circumstances (see signature) I can no longer devote every other weekend to my love of this team.
You fed me, you bred me, I'll remember your name. |

How many of our new so called 'plastics' where at Sheffield Wednesday on that famous day in May 2010. With this kind of attitude, CPFC doesn't need 'fans' of this type. By this type I mean those that deem themselves 'superior' to others. People are free to choose which games they go to and in doing so are just as valuable to the club support. The small group of 'fans' who constantly rant on about how 'loyal they are compared to everyone else should be ignored. The club will not even notice them anyway.

Didn't go, nor was I able to make Stockport a few years earlier. Feel so dirty now.

How many of our new so called 'plastics' where at Sheffield Wednesday on that famous day in May 2010. Oh dear. We've got this AND let's have an argument about Ron Noades appearing in the same afternoon. Original thinking is going to be in short supply for the next few hours.
In reply to the OP, I was there at Wednesday, struggled my way to Plymouth in the snow for the game to be called off, froze my tits off at Hartlepool away in the cup plus other horrendous sh*tholes with 100 other hardy souls. Let's talk about rubbish away days & not turning up to those rather than a sell out away end, extra away tickets being made available & sold out again for a last game of the season where our future really was on the line .

Think I must be a plastic now .... Grew up in Sydenham and season ticket holder for many years. 5 of us went to Selhurst for so many years Since 1970 All in fifties now and all scattered around the country but Will try to make a couple of games a year. Listened to some t*** in the back of the Whitehorse end at the Villa FA cup games couple of years back asking where all these new fans had come from as they were not here last week. Cnut. Some of us have followed our club for 40, 50 , 60 years and my dad was a STH for 20 years . Bigger games inevitably bring some fans together as the bond of being a PALACE supporter means that we will invariably link up and give our support. That is why we had no trouble filling SP ( that's Selhurst not Steve) on many occasions . My favourite player s Birchenall and Cannon. Had the privilege of playing for the SE counties Div 2 team for Palace . Oh , and having lost my collection of shirts in house fire , I only have built back up to sixty in my collection. Missus knows where I will be during any palace game. So forgive me if I can not make many games nowadays . If that makes me a plastic for not making the SW game then so be it 1990 cup final. ZDS vs Everton All Play off finals Any friendlies in travelling distance. PALACE. PLASTIC and PROUD. Anyone giving their support to our club in whatever capacity should be welcomed and not judged on the basis of their previous.
God, it makes me so angry....I am gonna find a little bloke... I'm gonna have a fight! |

My grandaughter said she was a Man Utd supporter, though she has no idea what Man means or where they are. Apparently many of her mates at school are the same, and not just about Utd but some of the other 'top' box clubs. She was laughed at by uncles and the elder among us and I felt sorry for her. What makes a supporter? I can only get to a couple of games a season and my brother lives miles away so he doesn't do his 'duty' much these days. I'll take my grandchildren to see the Gills on holidays and high days, but they don't see themselves as supporters of that team. Where are we. A son-in-law seriously believes you can only be a supporter if you have at least seen the team play at least once at home and has, over the years, supported Man Utd, Liverpool and, currently, Arsenal. How arrogant of me(us?) to say they are wrong. I went to Palace with my Dad and family when I was young, to every home game and as many of the away as poss. I feel the hurt when they lose and can only buy the Sunday Papers when they win. On holiday I will go many a mile to either see them play or at least find an appropriate TV. My missus would never try to stop me changing channel (even in East Enders) to see the Palace. She knows too well how I feel.

I don't think being at Sheffield Wednesday even makes someone qualified as a "non-plastic" as that was one of the biggest games in our history. I went Hull away mid week last season with work the next day when we drew 0-0.. Doesn't make me a bigger palace fan then anyone else. I for one do not like the plastic fans coming in just because we are in the premiership as I personally think they would've supported Arsenal last season and that's not what football is about (I had a fan telling me to shut the f*** up because I was "too loud" in arthur W at the Norwich game!?). Having said that, the criteria of some fans "what makes you a hardcore fan" is ridiculous. For example, I only registered on holmesdale earlier this year and on more than one occasion this season have been labelled a "plastic" due to not signing upto a message board? That's so ridiculous it makes me laugh. Moving onto the point I was originally making - going to one of the biggest matches in the clubs history does not make you an anymore loyal fan then anyone else - if anything, some would argue it's the complete opposite! But what do I really know, I didn't go to that game and quite clearly do not support crystal palace, what am I even doing here?
We're the Arthur over ere! |
