They could always get Lionel Blair to arrange the choreography.

He was a brilliant performer on give us a clue. Who can forget his performance when given a Town like Alice and he chose to do a silent impression of the author. Such was the performance, Una Stubbs gasped in amazement when she saw Neville Shute in Lionel's face.

Hello, as a Gay man, I would like to see proportionate gay/lesbian representation in the Palace Crystals. So, if, for argument's sake, we can agree that 5% of the population, is Lesbian or Gay then I would like to see that reflected in the make up of the Palace Crystals. Today, there were, I think, 12 members dancing on the pitch. Of course, I have no idea if any of the girls are lesbian but nevertheless there still should still be room statistically for one or two gay men to be part of the troupe.

What does the liberal, free thinking membership of HOL think of my suggestion?

Hello

Two important parts of each match day are the team selection and the number of Crystal Girls are in action. Many of us will remember when we had a guest Cheerleading Team from America - whose mascot gave us great entertainment - as he teased the visiting supporters.

While a "Chipendale" group might give an appreciated performance now and again - there is the danger that spilt body oil could lead to visiting team players finding it easier to fall over - and receive free kicks.

You will note that all four groups have been selected without any prospective audience knowledge of the individuals making up the group. This is how it needs to be.

I see no reason why there couldn't be a gay man/lesbian in the group but it is up for the crystals to decide.

Tbh I don't regard the crystals as a strictly straight aspect of the club, more so as entertainment for everyone (just happen to particularly entertain men)

Can't believe so many people have fallen for this obvious wind-up.

How does the original poster know that the Crystals are all straight? They might already be employing a non-discriminatory policy and might include one or two gay dancers.*

*Would obviously need video confirmation of this.

why is there no women in the first team..........

Cause they're s**t at football. I've no problem with a male crystal, I'm curious as to why people would think they would have to be gay, male cheerleader equivilants exist in Japan and the US. A purely female policy is of course discriminatory, as would be one that required a gay percentage.

The law only prevents discrimination, it does not include the right to discriminate except in very specific circumstances.

Don't the gay male fans get enough eye candy with all the fit dudes chasing a ball around in tight shorts for 90 minutes? Surely one of those has to catch your fancy!

Aside from the fact the OP is s***-stirring, the point has been hugely missed.

The fans don't demand the Crystals, the club chose to use them and they were very, very successful. They are very good at what they do.

I think it is fair to say that there is no demand from a signficant majority of fans from proportional representation within the Crystals.

I dare say that most homosexual fans, like a large number of the fanbase in general, aren't really fussed anyway.

If you don't like the Crystals, don't watch them. You have freedom of choice. Using the fact you don't like them to s***-stir about a supposed "liberal" point of view is as emabrassing, if not more than, some of the comments in reply.

As a former goth I am pleased that the girls are now wearing the black shirts with the 'evil sash' motif. For a long time I felt excluded by the Crystals and if I am honest I was embarrassed to wear thick black makeup, white face powder and a Sisters of Mercy leather jacket to games. Now they seem to be making some progress though and I felt comfortable enough to wear black PVC trousers to the West Brom game on Saturday. There are still a few too many tanned blond girls which makes Selhurst Park an intimidating place for me but as long as progress is being made.

Thanks for bringing this up OP, there are A LOT of minorities the Crystals don't cater for and it was time someone mentioned it.
