Also the amateur team disbanded in 1876, long before the cup finals were held (they started in 1895) so their was no unfair advantage!! so again your facts are inaccurate

You love being right even when you're wrong.

Side note, the 1861 team played in Blue and White (The colours of the Crystal Palace) So we would then actually own Brighton's colours as well meaning, we would have a claim to their colours, and the fact they changed their nickname to the Seagulls (To parody the Eagles) they really would be in our Shadow !!

We've seen this claim before and I thought it was pretty much rubbished.

Not by everyone... looks like new evidence is emerging

Apparently Willo was spotted in the crowd of an early photograph

Im of the opinion that we should claim the honour of being the Worlds oldest club even if the history was a bit disjointed back in the 19th C .
The only current club name to appear in the first ever FA cup will do for me .The professional takeover in 1905 is akin to a club being brought out of administration with a new board . It doesn't mean the club did not exist before .
I think the previous owners have missed a trick here , the marketing opportunities worldwide are enormous

I'm not sure you can claim that Crystal Palace is the only current club name to have played in the first FA cup, as a few other names from the 15 participants remain as football clubs. Granted, Crystal Palace is the only name in the current major leagues i.e. top 4 divisions, so that'll do!

As an aside...I never realised until I just looked it up that 'Wanderers FC', the reformed version of the five-time FA Cup winners, is based in Upper Norwood. Clearly I haven't been paying attention!

Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes)

A short article on this site in 2004: [Link]

I would say from my research they are two separate clubs with strong links, a bit like Newton Heath and Man United.

United did a special Newton Heath yellow and green away kit in the 90s and I reckon it's likely we may have a 160th anniversary blue and white version for us.
