Appointing Roy kicks the can further down the road, at which point when reaching the junction, Parish has to make a decision for the longer term, that is, appointing a manager that reflects the desired aim of bringing through younger players to play a presumably possession based style of football. There isn’t much long term managerialism in the Premier over 50% of Premier managers were sacked last year. I am sure everyone of them was a great appointment at the start.

If Paddy is thought to be the future then appoint him now. There is nothing to be gained by delaying it for another 9 months. Either he’s good enough or he is not.

I have edited my quote of your post to make it more accurate. If as you say other managers wouldn't accept the operating conditions that Parish would impose aren't we just delaying the inevitable for another year when the same problem will be facing the club or are we just going to keep appointing Roy until he dies in post Is there such a concept of kicking the can down the road when it comes to PL managerial appointments, given that over 50% of managers lost their job in the season just gone, and when that manager isn't a factor in our ability to build the squad (see signing of Lerma as an example)? We could appoint absolutely anyone and, more likely than not, we'd be looking for another manager before next summer.

My scenario: After Euros, Southgate leaves Englandand is replaced by Potter. Southgate to Palace.Ex-player whichParish loves but to me would be very underwhelming, playing 2 CDM every game

It will turn even more sour than when he managed last time. You can get 8/1 at the bookies for us to be relegated - seems like easy money if you're so sure, no need to involve anyone else here.
