This is over-hype. It's not responsible and not necessary and offensive to run a polluting vehicle, you are damaging other people's health. London's air has been transformed by Khan, I had asthma for years thanks to London pollution. Vehicle emissions poison and kill if we must have them they must meet the strictest standards possible. There are inexpensive alternatives, electric scooters and bikes for example buses cabs, its only if your vehicle does not meet the required standard.

Khan's robbing of poor people isn't even a blip.

It will undoubtedly be extremely unpopular. I prefer horse and carriage myself, environmentally friendly and good for the garden.
The horse probably farts more air polluting methane than the average old diesel lorry...

ULEZ is totally justified and hasn't gone far enough. Drivers must pay the Ulez charge if their vehicle does not meet required Euro emissions standards for their model and make. What is the problem with that. Really the question to me is, why are polluting vehicles allowed on our roads, at all. Your last line is more than acceptable for a fee of £12.50p

What about newly qualified drivers, how on earth are they supposed to be able to afford to buy vehicles exempt from the ULEZ charge- Especially since a large %age of new drivers are going to be youngsters who at the same time would be trying to save for their first property or pay rent - Originally posted by Spiderman
Have you considered that some people, who require a car for work, may not be able to afford anything other than “an old banger”? Especially, at the present time, when your friends from the Unions are bringing the railways to a near standstill

I am quite sure that this has absolutely nothing to do with providing cleaner air for Londoners (or anyone else) - its just tax dressed up to make it seem more acceptable. Originally posted by cryrst

I don't own a car myself so not affected but: My dad's mate lives in Plumstead and with the new rules coming in will have to pay to park his own car outside his own house. I don't see how this can be right or justified.

If this does go ahead, as I understand it, you’ll pay on the days that the car moves and not when just parked up. The other consideration is for shift workers that have to do nights, police, fire brigade, nurses etc, as they’ll get clobbered twice . Once in the afternoon/evening going to work, and again in he morning when returning home.

Khan has to pay for his 90 extra advisors and social media gurus somehow. No one wants him to do without. Plus he's got those extra think tanks on colonial/slave names of places and sculptures for plinths to worry about. Quangos of his mates won't pay for themselves.

Can everyone in London do the same? Presumably, it's quite a large ditch?
