The fact there was a statue of a slave trader in the first place is troubling. If you have an issue with it’s removal you should ask some serious questions of yourself. The question I am asking is how this country has produced people as f***ed in the head as you.

I have a problem with vandalism full stop. If this is such an issue then campaign and get the council to remove it. I get angry when people on the left complain that direct action is the only way things get done. In other words they didn't get their way at the ballot box so they will ignore democracy and use whatever means they deem acceptable to get their way. Bristol City council is run by the Labour Party so presumably if people are offended by a statue to a slave trader then they would get a sympathetic hearing. I know all the arguments of why this statue shouldn’t be pulled down, but there’s been attempts to remove this and have it placed in a museum for the sake of history for years, but nothing has happened. Every tactic has no doubt been used to avoid it. Sometimes some things are best let go. The problem is that I’m unsure when Boris or the police are going to clamp down on anything. If they got the batons out to protect a memorial for a slave trader who built his fortune on slavery then it would have been a serious own goal. The media would love it. Actually I’d like to know the discussions going on while the trouble goes off in London. Is number 10 letting it go on so it discredits the protesters or the rioters (take your pick). Or just because the govt or Boris are too scared of the media when they do, and tbf, Antifa want the reaction.

Any prejudice through personal experience I had towards Black culture has increased tenfold after all this. Watching those brain dead idiots pulling down the statue of Colston in Bristol is truly symbolic of exactly what I and many others predicted about Mass immigration. Anyone watching the scenes in Britain this week while we are in supposed lockdown should take heed now and remember this warning. Taking down the statue is actually a pretty non controversial act for Bristol. Its been touted for years but always seems to get kicked down the garden path for no good reason. I would have preferred the statue to have been taken down by the city council and put into a museum with the proper facts about Edward Colston displayed but in the grand scheme of things who cares? He was a revolting human being responsible for deaths of tens of thousands of human beings. If you can't understand why people find the man so objectionable perhaps you need to try a little harder. More that it’s a proud memorial of slavery that people have attempted to be placed inside a museum.

I would have drawn the line yesterday with the rioters (not protesters) but Boris is frightened of the media. Each incident can be dealt with regardless of a slave trader statue being pulled down after years of objecting to it were ignored. Trouble is I don’t know when they’re going to. I reckon Boris is looking out of the window hoping for rain like Michael Atherton used to.
