I think the club have been smart how they have handled the Sorloth situation. They are likely to recover the vast majority of the fee they paid for him, have his salary covered whilst on loan and, by extending his contract, protect themselves if he does very well in Turkey. Maybe, not very likely but you never know. Its similar with Benteke and Wickham. Try and protect the balance sheet as far as possible and manage any potential loss re transfer value. Also bear in mind transfer fees have grown significantly in recent years so clubs in the Championship or possibly China may not be put off by the c£9m Palace apparently paid for Wickham. It shows, if nothing else, that there is a business brain behind the scenes at CPFC - most probably Parish.

Doubt he'd replicate it in the PL if given the opportunity but, who knows, look at how Ayew's done this season & the moans when he re-signed. Red & Blue since 73'

It was a desperation signing that didn’t work. We might have dealt with the aftermath in a reasonable manner but I’m sure we would have been better off had we never signed him.

Not sure I’m bothered who authorised his signing, doesn’t really matter, but from day 1 he has never looked like a PL forward. If we do have him back and he plays well I’m willing to eat my words but I just can’t see that happening if I’m being honest. He is a poor mans Benteke which is not much praise! At a lower level he could do ok and I would be pleased if we get 60/70% of our original fee for him back. Poor signing though in my opinion

A haunted frontline could be the way to go. Presumably wouldn’t have to name them on the teamsheet.
