I have addressed the crimes charged above. On reflection I suspect the long sentence may reflect previous offences. Doesn't alter my view though. You did, but without being able to scrutinise the evidence. All that we have are the reports of the evidence and that is tainted by those reporting it and necessarily limited. Nor have we heard the cross examination of the accused, other witnesses and the exposure of motivations that would result.

Another tinkering rubbish budget actually increasing taxes not cutting them, no change there. If you earn £50,000 you can buy yourself a new phone or tablet, for those around £20,000 you will be worse off due to 'fiscal drag'. Public services, defence, pensioners, nothing for any of them. Starmer punchy demanding a May 2nd election date. That could well be where the public is.

what, you want to buy some more Tanks & Planes ? for the next war in a theatre ten thousand miles away ? Maybe Uzbekistan ? the UK ? 'defence' of a country not invaded by a hostile-uninvited army since 1066. Meanwhile all the rubber dinghies getting onto our beaches unchallenged. Defence expenditure has always been little more than a tax on the locals for our politicians to play Toy Soldiers. For Empire, for Theft of Oil, for Flag planting in places like Hong Kong.

We take the separation of powers very seriously here. It is not for the executive to police the judiciary. They must do it themselves, albeit with DoJ oversight. From what you are saying, they are not doing it very well.

Defence expenditure is necessary to meet the threat, whatever side of the political spectrum you are on.

At least tax was cut, given fiscal drag and council tax rises. Labour will have no money to spend unless they raise taxes even higher. That is what they always do in any case. Punishing the Tories might be very costly for the average household.

Nor have we heard the cross examination of the accused, other witnesses and the exposure of motivations that would result. No I have not. I expect the Def was appalling under oath and told the court to f**k off which did not do him any favours. But I am not talking about what evidence was adduced, how that evidence was presented, who did what under cross, his previous offences and so on. I am focusing only on what he was charged with. On this, we are not dealing with a media gloss on the issue. The police officer was the only person who gave a carefully pre prepared statement to the press summarizing the charges and that was published in full. He is a senior officer who needs to demonstrate to the world and his superiors the "appalling" nature of the crimes, the good use of scarce public resources and the fact that the police deserve a pat on the back for putting a "dangerous" man away. It was only distributing and putting those stickers up. That is it. If there were more to the charges, the officer would have gleefully said so as the case was finished and reporting restrictions lifted.

For the tories, another 'fiscal event' one that will make a huge tax cut, has to be made prior to the election. This is the reason they are talking about ending national insurance altogether. This would be Truss territory, a huge unfunded tax cut, costing around 50 billion. It didn't stop them last time.
