Immigration from EU countries is not under our control, the entire population of the EU can come here if they want, with one or two minor exceptions (an unqualified right of entry can be restricted on grounds of security or public health). No you didn't people only come here to work for better paid work if that changes they will return. The UK does not enforce a EU directive that can enable member states to send people without jobs home after 3 months.

EU's chief Brexit negotiator says Europe will suffer 'severe consequences' from hard Brexit: He says he wants an 'ambitious free trade' deal.

Do you accept the fact that we have no control over EU immigration?

2. Does it deliver the "exact same benefits" as we currently have as members of the Single Market and Customs Union? Clearly impossible to have without uncontrolled immigration etc - ludicrous 'test' by Labour. I agree that the answer will be "no" since we won't get the same market access without freedom of movement of labour alongside goods and finance. I think the pertinent question come actual Brexit will be,what is the appropriate trade off (if any) between reduced overall market access benefits in return for the perceived benefits of greater immigration controls .When push cones to shove and the terms are clearer, people will perhaps be more focused on the actuality of evaluating whether Brexit is a overall benefit or a backwards step.

The readjustment period may be choppy but a lot of europhiles just can't seem to mentally adjust to this. They wish ill on Brexit because they are fundamentally internationalist rather than nationalist in nature. We will be and are seen as a stable country with reliable institutions. Compare the interest on our borrowing to typical EU countries for example....Only Germany is doing well. Inward investment still seems to be positive even after the result and when the inevitable happens and the EU economic model falls apart we.....we will be affected and suffer but the fallout will have been significantly reduced compared to the rest of Europe.....This is when the rules on immigration will be needed even more than before. I believe Brexit....like the decision to not join the Euro will stand the test of time. Edited by Stirlingsays (28 Mar 2017 4.28am)

European parliament will veto Brexit deal with early cut-off date for free movement. Typical date fiddle by May she has been around. So have the EU it seems.

Heard on the radio this morning that part of the good Friday agreement was that there would be a vote on unification if the UK left the EU.
