Who's with me ?

Hope you haven’t nicked the Lewes Bonfire Society’s cache for tonight…

i wouldn't mess with Lewes. I think they have 7 Bonfire Societies. My stash would come from the Battle powder mills, because their Society is usually pi$$ed of their tlts by midday and would be an easy steal.

I disengage, I turn the page.

If the Palestinians won’t do their own dirty work then Israel will do it for them. The Palestinians outnumber Hamas maybe by a factor in hundreds. They voted them in all them years ago. They should be thanking Israel for voting them out. As for the pro Hamas marches going on around the globe. These f***wits actually think they are pro Palestine, really; they actually believe that. Well let’s hope that they are all ready for when the fifth legion get their instruction cos if you western or white your getting it.

Perhaps if Israel had responded with forensically targeted attacks on Hamas as the stick and offers of a new arrangement for self governance and support as the carrot they might be thanking them.

Not now. They are cementing hatred and a desire for revenge in a new generation. They may destroy Hamas but they are creating an even bigger successor.

Are the marches “pro-Hamas”? Or anti genocide?

The idea that the UK should take no interest in what is happening in Gaza is typical of the unrealistic approach taken by those who cling to the notion that we can isolate ourselves from world affairs.

It’s simply impossible in today’s interdependent global economy. What happens in the middle east impacts us. What happens in Gaza impacts the middle east. Any influence we can bring to bear to create a peaceful resolution benefits us.

That says nothing about the moral imperatives involved or the desire of people to alleviate suffering. Or indeed about any responsibility we hold for helping to create the circumstances that allowed this situation to exist.

Do India isolate themselves from world affairs?

Why haven't India sent ships to the Med as well?

I would totally agree with the part about having a moral position and the points about suffering. Where I differ is in why it's so important to be invested in an outcome.

This is a mess between US/Israel and the Arabs.

Plenty of EU countries keep their heads down as well and I don't blame them. I am sick of this country bringing back body bags from abroad in areas we should not be involved and then we get the inevitable thousands of refugees from those places and we are told we have a moral duty to them.

How about we do what the rest of the world does, send some humanitarian aid but otherwise keep out of it.

Pro Hamas. Why arnt the marches actually anti Hamas marches? That is the question. The song should be about getting rid of them and I’ve seen not one anti Hamas speech or sing song. Can you square that one?

And on behalf of all at HOL may I extend a big warm Palace welcome to the folk at GCHQ who have just joined this debate.

I disagree. There will be a few there who are pro Hamas, and perhaps even the odd side march, but the vast bulk will be as strongly against any form of terrorism as most of us. This is about the level of civilian casualties and what appears to be the uncaring disproportionate response.

Why not anti Hamas? There’s no point. Terrorists don’t listen to protests and our government doesn’t need to be persuaded to oppose their actions.

India doesn’t have the same kind of military relationship with the USA that we do.

We support them in the expectation they support us, as brothers within NATO.

It’s part of that “special relationship”. Whether it’s always wise is another matter.

Terrorists know bullets and bombs not protest !!!
How should Israel be acting then, unlike Hamas they are not actively targeting innocent people. Ironically if it were us who got what Israel got Palestine would be party central.
