Reposting article: Crystal Palace talks for signing now ‘stuck’ – Eagles need to revise offer With the rumours linking Matheus França to Crystal Palace going quiet over the past few days, we finally see something coming from the Brazilian media. As Lance feature a story about all the current transfer business Flamengo have been involved in, they bring a few lines on talks for the midfielder. The Eagles placed a €15m bid for the player, and with Flamengo demanding €25m, the talks are currently ‘stuck’. The Brazilian club are now said to be waiting for a ‘potential new attempt’ from Crystal Palace to ‘try to advance’ with the sale.

So clearly, greed was not the motivation behind his move, but the dream of Champions League football, something we perhaps could never offer in a lifetime, certainly was. Wilf doesn’t like losing, Champions league might be the label , losing is the reality. Then the money , £73,000 p/w , it can’t be that. The league standards ,ordinary at best.

I may be overthinking things as well, but assuming Galatasaray qualify for the CL group stage, Wilf will hope to have 6 matches in which to show what he is capable of and if he shines, that may just tempt one of the bigger European clubs to bid for him. Gala may be quite happy to turn a nice profit on him if a decent bid came in.

I think you may be overthinking it. As you say, Wilf doesn't like losing. I doubt Galatasaray lose that often domestically and there is therefore silverware to be won. He stands a very good chance to win a couple of league titles and domestic cups. Being part of that would be special. After years of scraping for every point, the appeal of battering everyone domestically certainly has some draw.

In 3 years he'd probably have 9 medals as well as playing in Europe every year.
