If I said my respect for black people has dropped after all this, does that make me a racist? The vast majority of black people have no interest in these protests, and did not attend them. Many have zero interest in BLM as a whole. And the majority of those that did attend were peaceful. Largely young people attended, in the midst of their pandemic loose end. The criminal elements unfortunately undermine it all and those are understandably the images we see, remember and associate. I hope those doing damage, and especially harm, serve serious time. Those black people developing more negative views of whites as result of seeing the George Floyd or other such alarming footage, share obvious parallels with people who watch footage of these protests and develop a growing dislike of blacks based on that. Both are viewing events through a curated lens that tells us very little about the typical person. I would hope that we all know many decent people of various races and are at least able to draw a sense of perspective from those realities too.

Barnes has always been sensible and balanced on race. At the same time, he's not political with it this way or that, so has managed to get peoples backs up on the left and right at one time or another. He refuses to 'pick a side' which typically means that someone ends up speaking sense. I recall him criticising the furore that accompanied Liam Neeson's comments a whole back. Neeson may well have over-disclosed his feelings in being a young man angered by an assault on a friend, but it was treated as if he was prowling the streets with a baseball bat in the here and now. Barnes sought to turn the temperature down, commended him on his honesty and for moving beyond his anger.

We live in a country of selective Policing and enforcement.

Any prejudice through personal experience I had towards Black culture has increased tenfold after all this. Watching those brain dead idiots pulling down the statue of Colston in Bristol is truly symbolic of exactly what I and many others predicted about Mass immigration. Anyone watching the scenes in Britain this week while we are in supposed lockdown should take heed now and remember this warning. I’m not particularly bothered about the shave trader statue being pulled down and I understand it being a problem for years. Other statues I have a big issue with being vandalised. Some dangerous precedents are being set with police watching violence proceed however.

This is mob rule and I now consider the powers behind these demonstrations to be a danger to our way of life.

Douglas Murray rather neatly sums it up. [Tweet Link]
Yep mob rule, uncontested by the Police.

If this is such an issue then campaign and get the council to remove it. I get angry when people on the left complain that direct action is the only way things get done. In other words they didn't get their way at the ballot box so they will ignore democracy and use whatever means they deem acceptable to get their way. Bristol City council is run by the Labour Party so presumably if people are offended by a statue to a slave trader then they would get a sympathetic hearing.

The fact there was a statue of a slave trader in the first place is troubling. If you have an issue with it’s removal you should ask some serious questions of yourself.

Where the f*** is Johnson? He wrote an autobiography of Churchill and he stays silent while his statue is defaced. Perhaps he should take a knee as well, like the rest of the shower.
