Remind me who it was who sold all that land to Sainsbury's? If we've now suddenly decided we want bits of it back, we're either going to have pay the asking price or come up with a different plan. Most people would find the prospect of a PL football club pleading poverty beyond laughable. As I've already said, we don't hold the strongest hand here and, if we want a new stand we're going to have to either put up or shut up. Of course Sainsbury's, plus almost the entire local population, would be grateful to see us gone. We'll get no sympathy whatsoever from the general public. A good start, as already mentioned, would be for Parish to tell us what this "extortionate" amount is and what exactly it's for; then we can all make up our minds whether we agree or not. Edited by bexleydave (06 May 2017 10.20am) Did you think it was the club sold to Sainsbury's Dave? I could be wrong but I think it may have been the landlord not the club. Just because Sainsbury's CAN take us for all we have got does not mean they SHOULD. Consumers can choose to impose their will and often do theses days. Social media has changed business permanently. We can influence this if we choose so to do.

It was sold to Sainsburys back in the 70s by the then chairman, the loveable Ray Bloye.

We can influence this if we choose so to do. As I've already pointed out (several times), the general public will have no sympathy for, nor lend any support, to us. They prefer supermarkets to PL football clubs who they perceive, not entirely inaccurately, to be awash with vast amounts of cash. Given a choice the locals would rather have a supermarket than a football club, especially one that's planning on expanding its capacity. It would really help if we knew what we're being asked to pay and for what; we only have Parish's opinion of what's extortionate and I'd prefer to make up my own mind before I get all heated about Sainsbury's.

If I owned a piece of land that someone else wanted to buy, I would try to get the maximum amount for it. Lots of people do likewise every day; it's called 'the property market'.

Lots of people do likewise every day; it's called 'the property market'. Yes, there's nothing wrong with making a healthy profit and there's also extortion!
