By the way, did anyone see that Sunderland MP who declared first, Bridget Philipson?

Definitely would.

Very on message. Promising trait.

We're doomed but it's not too late to reintroduce the £10 assisted passage to Australia and also rebuild Hadrian's Wall? These things could easily have been vote winners.

My compassion leads me to think about all those who lost their seats through no fault of their own. It must have been devastating for the vanquished particularly those with sizeable majorities who would have expected to keep their seats.Politics can be very cruel.

And even though I am a devout Conservative who campaigned tirelessly in marginals, I take my hat off to Miliband and Ed Balls for the magnanimous and respectful way they accepted defeat and the same could probably be said of many, many others. It cannot be easy to make such gracious speeches and at such times.

'marginals', are they some sort of trousers?

Congratulations, Willo, your assessment of the situation was correct, more so than most of the polls. "I doff my hat".

Does anyone know why the last 2 elections were 5 years apart and the previous 2 4 years?

Did he post it here previously or are you purely relying on the 'say so' of man who walks the streets and annoys people. Much like a Jehovah Witness?

Indeed. Willo is 'devout' and very much treats his allegiance to the tories as a religion. In a future election where there's a Labour win, this isn't a man who's going to be predicting it. A broken clock is right twice a day .
