You said is was not, and of course it is accurate. All you are doing is spurting out your usual squid ink in a ridiculous attempt to deny that you were wrong in saying that my figures were inaccurate. We are all capable of believing things which we know to be untrue, and then, when we are finally proved wrong, impudently twisting the facts so as to show that we were right. [Orwell] It's the usual comparing apples with pears to suit the erroneous narrative. If you had said " net immigration " that would be different, but you didn't.
Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance. |

The total for 2022 was increased; the figure quoted was from the BBC. The population totals are from the census. I don’t think anyone “allowed” things to develop. They just did. We have had a series of unforeseen crises which took priority. Now we have no real choice. If you don’t think our essential services will suffer if we fail to staff them I would be very interested to learn why.

I'd be interested to know why essential services in Cornwall don't need thousands of migrant recruits.

[Orwell] You are a very rude man. The comment I first picked you up on was this. Things always need to be read in their context. The discussion was about the NHS:- “The canard that we must have immigration at the current levels to support the NHS is of course a lie by the left to deflect from the clear and obvious serious problems of mass immigration. The NHS employs around 1.7 million people, about 250,000 are from overseas. Immigration is running at around 1.2 million per year, vastly in excess of the numbers supposedly needed to keep the NHS running.” That makes no sense unless and until migration is taken into account as the numbers needed to keep the NHS running are impacted by it just as much as immigration. Which is why it was pointed out. Not that the simple statement about the gross number was incorrect but that it’s the net figure which gives the facts on the subject. Which was the NHS. This is so obvious that it beggars belief that you want to argue the point. We all know what the gross figure was. It’s obviously not the only consideration in this context.

I'd be interested to know why essential services in Cornwall don't need thousands of migrant recruits. I don’t have the numbers to hand but our local hospital, where my wife works, has many recent arrivals. Certainly several 100. They are actively recruiting in several countries. Mostly these days in Africa but some too from Asia. None, so far as I know, now from the EU. Two nurses, with their 3 children, are renting a house a few doors away from us. They, I believe, come from Nigeria.

You responded with "You need to get your facts right". I did get my facts right. By the way. Thanks for reposting and (highlighting in colour!) my point that "The canard that we must have immigration at the current levels to support the NHS is of course a lie by the left". The PM will start his investigation by vetting all future Labour candidates
