However, they saw the reactions of fear from the media and caved to the worst case scenarios being put forward....not the most likely....but by doing this they avoided any chance of blame if it happened....they knew that ultimately the politicians would find a way of defending this approach whatever the outcome because they were in the same boat.....they knew that criticism for an over reaction was less worse than for an under reaction. As a result untold damage and not a little long term indirect death has been inflicted. Manipulations of the truth were used....as shown in the video....to heighten fear over reality. We haven't had the best decisions made, instead we have had the most expedient decisions. Everything is about shifting blame. In Sweden and in most East Asian countries, the same thing happened but a different medical consensus and approach was reached......Do you notice that the media are talking far less about Sweden now...talking far less about deaths and hospitalizations and instead it's all about a rise in cases.....Well, if you're testing more that's going to happen. Those with the microphone will present the narrative that is best for them. I lost faith in that being related to an honest appraisal a long time ago.
Edited by Stirlingsays (11 Sep 2020 6.34am) You made my point. How do we know it wont turn into the worst case scenario though. Do we roll the dice and maybe in 6 months wish we hadnt; or as is happening take the safest option to prevent that potential.

But truth be told, if you're ill and vulnerable you should be taking precautions anyway as even a cold can take that group out. If the government thought that there was a chance it could turn worse they wouldn't have converted the new hospitals into cancer centres.

I suspect it's the future they are protecting.

If you look at the beginning of this virus you will find my posts warning people to take the threat seriously until we have the data. The data has been in since around April....I've looked at the statistics and taken an interest in this virus. Like I've said, not only has the economic steps taken been a huge over reaction but the government and media have misrepresented this virus to such an extent that you think that my family are under threat. I fall into the 'at threat' category a bit, however 'hiding away'...unless you are loaded....doesn't make much sense to a disease with this low a death rate. As people like Rudi and others have said, the genuinely vulnerable should take precautions..and that's mostly going to be the frail and old.....then again, if you are that vulnerable you should have been taking them before this virus and after it. There is no life you can lead that involves no risk....car accidents happen every day yet people still get in cars.

No stirling I never said your family are under threat and never would. I asked if the evidence came out that long term issues were more than just a guess would it change your mindset about HMG actions.

I think that's what I did, but if I turn out to be incorrect I won't hide from that. We tend to agree on many topics but differ on this one and that's ok mate.....no one agrees on everything.
