So apparently other BBC radio stations e.g. Radio 2 will play the uncensored version but not Radio 1.

That seems turned around? Surely Radio 2 is for the wrinklies, people who may not like bad language etc. I thought Radio 1 was for the rebels the youngsters who didn't give a ****

What audience is Radio 1 aiming for?

The dastardly BBC has banned the word "Fishermen" and "Fisherpeople" should be used instead.
Bloody ridiculous.
All of this errant hogwash is guaranteed to give me bouts of hypertension.

Some poor chap might get offended by "Winkle" as it might be a description of his private part.

Not sure that lyrical work of genius from the 60s, Do Wah Diddy Diddy, would make it to the airwaves nowadays unless the band rebranded as GenderNeutralFred GenderNeutral

Living down here does have some advantages. At least you can see them cry.

Terrible news for Claudia, first of all she has to change her name to Winklewoman and now Winkleperson.

Given the bigger picture, all this changing from gender specific to generic is surely anti-Semitic given that a high percentage of Jews have man at the end of their names. How the hell are the snowflake police going to deal with that little conundrum?

Maybe they should ask football pundit Steve McPersonaperson.

or play a tune from Person-Fred-Person.

anyway i am finding that Pogues tune deeply offensive.

How dare the BBC play irish music on a British station, i will be parading and marching up and down the Shankill road in protest. With my red white and blue flags and the sash my father wore.

From the BBC's own website.

""Over-55s growing less satisfied with the BBC, Ofcom says The report also said the corporation was "still struggling" to reach younger audiences.""

[Link]

So the BBC is failing it's core audience and failing to replace them with younger viewers.

It's only a matter of time before the licence fee is abolished.

I sincerely hope you are wrong as it would sound the death knell for the truly independent and yes, unbiased, reporting and investigative journalism we have been privileged to enjoy all of our lives.

Any other funding basis threatens that. By all means review the scale of the output and the target markets but not let's lose sight of the original ambition. The BBC, alongside the NHS, are the UK's crowning achievements in the last 100 years.

You won't really know what you will be missing until it's gone. So as with Brexit it's easy to imagine the other side of the fence is greener when very often it turns out to be pretty barren.

I don't believe this!
"Average time spent with the BBC each week [by young audiences] now stands at just less than an hour a day," it found."

You are so nieve, look out side your bubble occasionally and consider people's views.
Now could you please for once admit your wrong.
