Here's a chart showing just how much of an outlier Hodgson is in terms of introducing subs Edited by pssguy (06 Sep 2019 1.09am) Attachment: firstSub.PNG (20.20Kb)

An interesting statistic from the Times yesterday. We were something like 5th oldest last year for average starting lineup (Wolves were oldest by some way). With Ward replacing Wan-Bissaka and Cahill in, we could be top this year

There's a good article in The Athletic with Chris Brunt where he talks quite frankly about the managers he's worked under at WBA which includes, Pulis, Pardew and Hodgson. He hasn't got much good to say about Pulis and Pardew, but his comments on Hodgson say he is the best manager he has ever worked with. Does say that he has little to no interest in players doing tricks etc and is all about the functionality of the team, which sums him the football we've had. Did like the last line on him: “Though obviously he does lose it sometimes, and he’s quite funny when he does!”

Just seen this, I hope SP has taken note RH said "I would like to say that to you but if I'm realistic I'm not certain I can. I think staying in the Premier League is always going to be the be all and end all for us and always going to be a fight, a bit of suffering. There's not going to be rainbows and blue skies and rose coloured spectacles all the way through. There's gong to be plenty of fighting and heartache along the way."

Despite his age, Roy does not seem the sentimental type. He is pragmatic in his approach and seems to see the result as the be all and end all. Given his resources I can't really see any manager who could do better. If he sticks with 4-5-1/4-3-3 I think we'll have another solid if unspectacular season. I still want to see Camarasa get a start in the PL though. That seems like the one possibility of something new and exciting (this could of course end like the Meyer dream!)

I can’t believe you don’t understand about the investment and ground. It’s been discussed to the death on here. Just read the financial accounts.

We ran at a loss of something like 30 million last year.

I fully understand the accounts and the losses we made, but I am sure SP said the Stadium money was ring-fenced? Or have I missed something. As for the playing side of things I have no doubt we need wealthy investors to take us forward, these may be keener if our stadium was up to it!! I really do appreciate what SP has done but think he needs, IMO we are a very attractive proposition apart from the ground. Just having a say thats all ....

We could be owned by the wealthiest man alive whos willing to spend billions on the club, but it would make zero difference if we dont upgrade the stadium to increase operating revenue, which in turn makes us able to spend more money.

But.....if the Americans investment was ring fenced for stadium development, are those funds still available given that they want out ? If the answer is “ no “ that would also explain the lack of tangible progress.
