bottom line: I do believe he's rejected a new contract and I do believe he's asked to leave.[ Edited by Ginger Pubic Wig (25 Jul 2018 6.53am) That does not mean he has decided to leave now. He has never openly said he wants to leave in fact he has said the reverse. I suspect that he doesn't want to extend contract at present, He doesn't want more money at present as this will restrict who can afford him. He wants to be a first team regular and going elsewhere this is not guaranteed. So I think he and his advisors have decided to stay at least another year (unless club decide to sell)and then revisit Originally posted by Ginger Pubic Wig people want to believe a grand conspiracy that the media wants to make all our top players leave for big clubs, and are prepared to print lies to do that. I don't.[Edited by Ginger Pubic Wig (25 Jul 2018 6.53am)
There is no conspiracy but journalists are paid to write articles and column inches sell papers etc. On bad news days these inches are filled with conjecture not facts. The fact is in the past Spurs have made an offer for Wilf and they have not recruited anyone of Wilf's ability so every window this conjecture will continue. The same with us and players we have offered for in past that is how it works Originally posted by Ginger Pubic Wig
Now the agent can't go around pushing lies, whatever you want to believe.[Edited by Ginger Pubic Wig (25 Jul 2018 6.53am) The agent makes money from his client when the contract changes so it is in his interest to allow speculation and even suggest that if right offer came in his client may be interested. This is not a lie but human nature. If you were offered double your current wage elsewhere you would at least think about it Originally posted by Ginger Pubic Wig And for the record, I have seen players or agents clarify a situation, but admit it's rare. I genuinely think if there were errors of fact here, Wilf would have said so. Maybe he will. Maybe SP will. I hope so. Edited by Ginger Pubic Wig (25 Jul 2018 6.53am)
Wilf has said so. The manager has said so. I understand why you want SP to say something but what difference would it really make? One of the things SP has been criticised for is being too hands on. The Financial figures show that he has been willing to back managers I think he has listened and brought in a DOF and will allow manager to manage. This means I think he will be less vocal than in the past. My view is we will sell Wilf the same as any other player if we get right offer that includes ability to make team overall stronger. I don't think he will go this window unless Chelsea come in with a player exchange we find acceptable

He has never openly said he wants to leave in fact he has said the reverse. Similar to Dougie Freedman then before he pushed off

We should try and replace him before he goes. Once clubs know we’re desperate and have £60-70M in our pocket, we’ll have zero chance of using the money well. Alternatively not sell him at all, then we won’t have to worry, what to do with the money.

Wages are the issue, we can't sell one player on 110k a week and replace him with 3 players that may want double that in total. Plus we won't get 70mil for him, if clubs that want him were happy to pay that he would have already gone.

We still have to replace Cabaye, that's not easy as he was IMO a very good link man with a bit of class.

GPW, I’m not sure how Wilf can ask to leave unless there’s a been a firm bid? Has there? I’d discount Everton. Maybe Spurs have but everybody knows the way they do business so it’ll be no surprise to Wilf if Parish declines Spurs and any wish Wilf has to move for the cost of a pre match pie and pint. But if there was a firm bid it’ll also have been all over the press. Maybe he’s inferred he wants to or intends to leave but I struggle with ‘Wilf asking to leave’ with nowhere to leave to. Can't he just open his mouth and say: "I want to leave", and get that leaked so that bids come in from clubs he hopes (via his agent) are interested? didn't this used to be standard practice? what's the material downside in saying this if it's what he wants?

Sure. No bids yet though. Pretty much nothing apart Everton tyre kicker reptile Daniel Levy.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'The Wilfried Zaha Thread' by Midlands Eagle This post has been merged from a topic called 'Sell Wilf?' by Penge Eagle We earn a ridiculous amount in ticket prices, stuff in the clubshop, sky money, staying up in the Premier League etc etc. Steve Parish is pulling the wool over some of the less intelligent fans of our club and making it look like we need to sell our best assets. That couldnt be further from the truth. We haven't been as well off as we are now. We can afford to keep Zaha forever (if we wanted to) but we need to stay up. The way we push on and stay up is to start splashing the cash a bit. Bring in good quality players and build a team around our very own local lad who loves the club Wilfried Zaha. The guy is quality. Every season we finish higher we receive more money. We need to be pushing ourselves forward to win the FA Cup, get into the Europa cup or champions league. We are not the little Palace that struggled in the championship and needed to sell players. We are a big London club that needs to be pushing on and showing our potential. It's getting boring now all the people that truly believe we have no money and have to sell to buy. What a load of old b*locks. The American investors came in and promised to pay for the new stadium transformation. We have got money for players but Steve isn't using it unless it's for fine wine and holidays.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'The Wilfried Zaha Thread' by Midlands Eagle to be fair, mauro in the standard has just toned down his coverage. 4 days ago, under his byline: wz has rocked cp after indicating he wants to leave. (headline 'wz asks to leave') today he says wz hasn't handed in a transfer request (but still wants to go). I no longer think he's asked to leave, but reckon he'd like to. i thought other relatively reputable media reported a transfer request, but on looking again I can't find that they did. so I was wrong and apologise.
