I predict that not only will the Tories be the largest party they might just get a majority. If not, they will go for a minority's govt rather than go I to coalition again and dare the opposition to vote down the Queesn's Speech. Going further, I think they will put something in the Queen's Speech to make it impossible for Labour to stand aloof - such as new union restrictions.

Can I refer the Hon Gentlemen to the above prediction.
Smug mode engaged.

Did I mention that I predicted it?

Such a surprise result. Anyone who saw that coming must be a genius!

Bennett has just confirmed she's staying on as leader of the greens!

They really are clueless.

She's been on the mung beans again.

They could actually do really well if they had a half competent leader.

Haha.

This election was a great opportunity for Greens to pick up a chunk of the Lib Dem vote, but she really put her foot in it. That and some of their policies are just a bit too 'out there'.

The bloke in Glasgow who stuck £30K on it at 7/1 is a genius.

Optimistic as ever

Who, do you reckon, of the new intake of MP's, will be the first caught 'looking for badgers' (copyright R. Davies)?

I was in a pub with my daughter's fiancee on Sunday night and I mentioned to him that I just had the feeling that the Conservatives would gain an overall majority. He looked at me quizzically and thought I had taken leave of my senses !

In rather more 'Bullish' mood on Wednesday I repeated this message more emphatically to my dear wife and she was also of this opinion !!!! I told her that on the back of an economic recovery I just could NOT see how the polls were right and I was getting a much more positive message when I was out campaigning in marginals.

ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC !

Need to get to bed early tonight as I have been up all night !!!!

Loving the lefties who think Labour isn't left wing enough.

My compassion leads me to think about all those who lost their seats through no fault of their own. It must have been devastating for the vanquished particularly those with sizeable majorities who would have expected to keep their seats.Politics can be very cruel.

And even though I am a devout Conservative who campaigned tirelessly in marginals, I take my hat off to Miliband and Ed Balls for the magnanimous and respectful way they accepted defeat and the same could probably be said of many, many others. It cannot be easy to make such gracious speeches and at such times.

Nearly forty years old but proves that some things don't change:

The left never learn.

To be fair, they practically had a communist manifesto in 1945 and won easily - and did a lot of good. Mind you, they also had a great deal more common sense in those days and wanted to help ordinary working people rather than various disparate minority groups.

(note the number of minor parties who gained seats - communists 2 out of 21 standing; SNP zero out of eight)
