To SW2Eagle - you are talking utter rubbish. There was no decimated squad and Burley had ample support from the board to bolster it. His signings in general have been poor and he clearly lost the players. When should he have been sacked? When we are 15 points adrift at the bottom? Finally, who cares if Steve Parish answers selectively? Do you not understand that what is said may be sensitive information and as a chairman some things have to remain private. You should be grateful he has taken the time to answer questions on here at all - and until 2am! Penge - I care if he answers selectively - and so do a few other astute posters. You are welcome to your opinion, but if Mr Parish is going to come onto the forum (which I've told him I appreciate) he must be prepared to answer the questions posed. I've provided my comments in this respect, and will not go over them again. If you bother to read the posts properly, you'll see that I also understand that some questions cannot be answered - this is not my concern, but there are certainly some that deserve an answer. I've mentioned Syd's already - somebody else asked why Danns only found out about the sacking via Twitter. A valid question and a concerning issue. As stated, I stand by my view and hope to be proved wrong. With regard to the squad - my point has only been answered by relying on a pedantic and slightly archaic definition of 'decimated' - rather than by answering the question properly. To clarify - our squad has been vastly reduced in key areas. We have lost Hill, Derry, Fonte, Butterfield, Moses, Ertl, Lee - and that's before the long-term injuries. There are probably more, but I'm not going to wast any more time justifying myself to you.
You are clearly unhappy that Burley has been sacked and feel the need to pick holes in what SP has to say. We fought long and hard to avoid dropping to League One last season and don't want to do it again. I'm happy the board have shown some gumption and made a strong decision on this. Preston are one place below us and sacked Ferguson this week. So they are wrong to have sacked him too? If you bother to read SP's posts properly you will see that Burley was given ample time and funds to improve the so called "decimated" squad and he did not. It's not up to the chairmen to inform the players of the sacking. If you knew anything about football, you would know that it's the job of the football manager. If Burley did not want to tell the players, then how is that SP's fault. Do you expect him to ring Danns or each squad member up individually? In this instance, backing a Mickey Mouse manager or a group of fans who run our club and seem to know what they want for the club's best interests in the short and long term, then I'm behind the board. The league table does not lie. A chairman coming on a forum to speak to the fans should be welcomed...
To answer you point briefly, as I'm pretty much done on this topic: If the manager's been sacked - then it is very much up to the Chairman to make sure that the players are informed in a proffessional manner. The answers to the squad, budget and timescale questions were far from satisfactory, as many a reasonable poster has agreed. It is a simple fact that our squad was thinned out significantly by administration. No, the league table does not lie. It has us where we deserve to be, and where many of us predicted we'd be at the start of the season. I still don't know why we're now surprised to be struggling. Ferguson - arguably unlucky. Managers just are not given sufficient time to do their jobs properly these days. We've given ours a very limited buget as well as very limited time. Personally, I'm disappointed. I'm well aware that plenty of people disagree with me -and that does not bother me in the slightest. What annoys me is that fact that you and a couple of others seem to think that it is somehow out of order to challenge our board when they make themselves available. What exactly would it achieve to sit here in awe of them praise every decsion they make? Nothing - and it would render their participation in questions and answer sessions completely pointless. We're all grateful for what CPFC2010 has done in saving our club - this does not mean that we now stop taking an interest and just assume that every decision they make is a correct or progressive one. Like everyone, I hope that this decision turns out to be for the benefit of our club. So far, I think the comments posted and attributed to Neil Ashton, whilst they are just opinion, represent the best possible reason to look to replace Burley. If it is true that he was not focused, for whatever reason, then fair enough. The board, however, have not said this.

Perhaps very short-term red cards should be introduced in these Q+A's? If someone is clearly affecting the quality/progression of the Q+A, they should be instantly red carded until the Q+A is done or CPFC2010 go offline, where the ban is lifted. The fact that Parish & co come on here and open themelves up to questions is something we should regard, and treat as a privilege and NOT an entitlement, or an opportunity for farsical sniping. Harsh, but it's in the interest of the majority.
Oh hello, drama queen alert.

SW2 Eagle - I'd agree with the fact that our squad was thinned through administration and we could only just name 7 subs at the end of last season. However, Burley has brought in 11 players. If they do not work (Dorman, Obika, Davids) it is his fault as they are his players that he has chosen to bring to the club. We still have the basis of a decent championship squad, with players such as Danns and Ambrose. Limited budget? SP has already been on here and said that there was an extra £17,000 a week available in the loan window. I feel that is far from being 'limited' and teams such as Watford and Millwall, both of whom above us in the league, wouldn't have the chance to use this amount of money. And if the manager cannot identify the fact that after Vaughan left we were left with only 3 goals from our remaining strikers this season (Counago with 2, Zaha with 1) then something is seriously wrong with him. Your argument is a poor one and 6 months in enough time to measure progress. The only way we are going is down if we had of kept Burley. Fortunately we didn't. And for you to say you don't know why people are surprised we are struggling - teams such as Watford and Millwall SHOULD be struggling, out of their 2 teams I'd probably only take maybe 2 or 3 players to put into our team. However, they both have managers who use their resources wisely (Puncheon with 5 goals for Millwall already, great loan signing) and man manage what they have. Burley doesn't know how to motivate players. Mackay and Jackett do. Burley doesn't know how to organise a team and build foundations from a solid back line. Mackay and Jackett do. Therefore, your comment saying you're not surprised were struggling isn't valid as we have a good enough squad to be above the 2 aforementioned teams. The manager just simply isn't good enough, with a decent manager who can organise us and get us scoring goals and stop us conceding every week, you might just realise our Starting XI can be a match for ANYONE in this division.

Im more than ok with Burleys departure, even more happy that mr Parish has given us his time to explain things, and a lot more optomistic than i was at 4 o clock yesterday ...That said, we have some massive dickhead fans, reading some of the comments both here and the in particular the bbs, made me cringe at times..

Why sack Burley two days before a very important match against Preston? What happens if the next manager doesn't do well with such a small squad, will he be sacked as well?

Although I wanted Burley to suceed and didn't ask for him to go I totally accept and understand the reason to sack him (esp after yesterday!) I was very optomistic when he was appointed and i really wanted him to suceed but i do feel let down by him. With his previous record and experience I am shocked that he didn't look like sorting our defence out and the naivety we showed away from home. Most good managers start at the back and the first thing NW did was make us harder to beat as that 's where it starts. I feel very disappointed with Burley's tenure although Even after the match yesterday I was hoping he would turn things round. Oh well, let's get behind the boys tomorrow and go out and beat a club that really is in turmoil!!!
