The peace process in Northern Ireland has absolutely nothing to do with the EU. It is largely the result of the efforts of Blair. And John Major, surely??

Either way, we can agree it had barely anything to do with the EU!

So George Osborne is getting paid a £650k salary by the staunch EU remainers BlackRock for one day a week's work. No wonder he campaigned so vehemently for the UK to stay in the EU with all those lies. And David Cameron's £100k speech for Morgan Stanley recently after the bank threw hundreds of thousands of pounds at the remain campaign. Yet rather bizarrely, many people would have voted remain because the banks and the government know best – and have no self interest whatsoever of course!

The EU/EEC had nothing to do with forcing the peace in NI but it has strongly underpinned it. The peace process in Northern Ireland has been receiving financial support from the EU since 1989, through both EU regional policy and EU contributions to the International Fund for Ireland (IFI). Since 1995 there have been three PEACE programmes, with a financial contribution of EUR 1.3 billion. While PEACE I (1995-1999) and PEACE II (2000-2006) received funding from all the Structural Funds, PEACE III (2007-2013) was funded solely by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).

You mean the EU finance that comes indirectly from the UK taxpayer? With the sensitive political situation up there, I doubt the UK govt would withdraw that funding when it's in charge of the purse strings again. And before you say the Tories can't be trusted, well there is no guarantee the EU would continue to spend it.

By no stretch of the imagination can the EU take credit for the NI peace process. The point I was trying to make is that peace in Europe is pretty fragile. Within the EU there are 2 disputes. Just outside its boarders there are loads of disputes.

Guy Verhofstadt says ‘all British citizens today have EU citizenship’ and they should have the chance to keep their individual rights. If you can keep your EU rights as an individual I think many people feel European and would want this.

Well those that want to remain"European " can pay for it out of higher taxes that they can pay...what a ridiculous idea.

Basically they are trying everything they can to throw a spanner in the works of Brexit, because they know that the huge house of cards is about to collapse about their ears.
