Brendan Rodgers just been sacked by Leicester. I know he's had a tough season but would not be turned off at all if he came to Palace

Plus the owner doesn't seem as interested as the father was. They've gone stale and probably need new ideas but I still rate Rodgers as a coach.

I think talk of a new manager is still premature as things stand. One thing I can say is the best hope for bringing Roy back in was that he’d be able to turn the arguably better talent at hand into a functioning, effective team capable of winning football matches where Vieira had turned them into a one dimensional group of stilted individualist players incapable of attacking an opponent let alone scoring. The Leicester game was just about as good as I could have hoped for. We outclassed, outplayed and in dramatic style outscored them despite conceding first. Bodes well but full focus should still be on finishing 17th or above. As for the next manager, we have been stung twice now trying to employ idealist managers seemingly incapable of the pragmatism necessary for a team that will not be funded so as to fully accommodate their ‘style’. My hope is Hodgson was pragmatically capable of keeping us alive in the PL on a shoestring however with better resource at his disposal will rack up results in the following games. Any manager following Roy will have to be compatible with the ownership’s financial strategy/limitations with substance and style not mutually exclusive in their approach. The objective reality of the situation need to be understood by all for common sense and good judgement to prevail. Til then COYP and welcome home Roy, good to see you and the old guard holding the reins in these worrying times.
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

Would be very happy with either Potter or Rodgers. Great win for Roy yesterday but I still don't want him in charge next season.

I just don't think either of them is a good fit for here. Rodgers seems good with good players but also seems unable to keep things going. Potter doesn't seem to have the clarity our current team needs. If we had a much better squad then I'd agree that these are good managers. For our limited squad, and likely low budget, I feel that we need a motivator with a clear message. The more Cooper or Dyche figures - just my feelings. Another thing about Rodgers is he's rumoured to be a club yes man, as long as he gets his rewards. In our case, I want a manager to say when players are obviously required - our board seems to need a kick up the Arthur.

Agreed I can see and would be very happy with this scenario..!! Got to take care of business first though..!!!! Assuming Roy keeps us up, which I’m becoming increasingly confident he will - don’t you think it would be the perfect signing off - as in saving his “own team” as his parting shot on a long and the whole successful career..!! Maybe sometimes the stars are just aligned.!! COYP

I agree about Roy with one proviso: I think we need to get the next hire right. With PV, as we all know, he was our third or fourth choice and I think in retrospect, going that far down the line was an error. I'd like to think we have one or two prime candidates for the job and good reasons for hiring them. If those managers - the ones we do want - turn us down, then I would take Roy for another year rather than compromise again, and end up with someone less than ideal. Roy, at least, would give us competence and stability for twelve months; not the perfect solution but better than being rushed. I've never liked Rodgers' personality but I can't help thinking he might be quite a good hire for us.

I think Rodgers would be a good fit. His cycle at Leicester had come to a close and he had overstayed his welcome. It was quite obvious last season that he didn’t have the stomach or passion for the job and was quite clearly going through the motions this season.
