The UK left the EU where we had the ability to return refugees to the first EU country they arrived in.

Only now for the UK to ask France in public on Twitter to accept UK-arrived refugees, even though the UK is now outside the EU and doesn’t have that right because of Brexit.

Mostly from countries that were attacked, bombed and invaded by the US and the UK, devastating any form of economy they had before those events.

The top two countries of origin for asylum seekers are Iran and Albania. How much attacking and bombing have we done there?

it's a tricky one. Any migrant that turns up in someone's country have a very difficult time assessing their country of origin, and the reason behind their travel.
'Normally', only natural catastrophes and war would cause such sizable shifts in populace.
So their reason for moving could be down to a number of factors, but the fact they choose to risk death to cross the channel on inflatables (and in high numbers) gives an indication of their determination to reach the UK.

With all the 5hlt going on around the UK, it makes you wonder why ? Migrant housing isn't exactly palatial. Benefits are cr@p. The NHS is under severe strain, there aren't enough houses. Food is limited and so are job opportunities. And the weather is a bit 5h1t too
Given the low number of females, one might argue that the ones being detained are probably not sex workers being trafficked. So a lot of young men evading poverty ? conscription ? or just seeking a better life. Perhaps in employment, or maybe joining organised crime gangs. ?

If we could get a grip on the main motivators for coming to the UK, then that would be a start.

Asking the French to do anything is a waste of time. They are very good at blockading ports and boarding vessels when it suits them ,.
Very good at selling arms to Argentina when they are fighting the UK

We voted to abolish the returns agreement with brexit, we could have returned people before we left, if the will was there, now we can"t!Now, we alone control our borders, sounds great in theory, in practice we are a sitting duck for refugees to come. And asking the French to take the refugees/migrants back, isn"t going to wash, why would they? Great to see the French get some backbone and take control, by telling Priti shes not welcome in negotiations, it might force the issue and we can get someone who actually knows what they are doing in charge!

You sure do hate your country.

Safer if they leave the wives & children behind - once they are 'in' they can bring them over legally, together with parents, aunts, uncles, cousins, etc. etc. etc.

Heartfelt sentiments from you I am sure and very commendable but many are no more than economic migrants who come from countries that have no political problems, even working illegally here they will earn more than at home ( on the whole), do you blame them…. No, would I do the same…. Probably. However this does not mean we can continue the numbers that are coming in
