"The Hill" is hardly an unbiased media outlet these days is it and every one of those claims is first twisted and then presented without responses given by the Biden team. He has apologised for occasional memory lapses when responding to questions and for errors of judgement. Biden admits he has made mistakes. Trump never does. Everything he does is either "great" or "perfect". That's where Biden scores on integrity over Trump. Never have I, or indeed many people, suggested Biden is a "perfect" man. He isn't a great candidate, who has flaws, but at the base he isn't a wicked person. When making any binary choice sometimes it's necessary to choose the least worse option and when one of those options is by far the worst POTUS in history it's very difficult for the alternative not to be better. You are suggesting that everyone of those 'claims' have been 'twisted'. So here is your opportunity to explain how these claims differ from the truth. You stated that Biden has integrity.....You are happy to pass off his lies as 'errors of judgement' while demonising Trump's lies. Perhaps you should learn what integrity actually is. Edited by Stirlingsays (08 Oct 2020 11.53am) "Twisted" in the world journalism equals presented from a particular perspective. Missing out facts that don't match the narrative that you wish to present. Not necessarily untrue, or legal action might follow, but not the whole truth either. As I said, Biden offered explanations for some and apologies for others, but these didn't feature. Responsible journalists, even when they cover Trump, will publish the other side of the argument, although often with a metaphorical raised eyebrow. That's how they differ from the truth. Part of the truth is not the truth. I am not "passing off" anything. I am saying it as I see it and have been openly critical of Biden, who I believe to be a fundamentally good man, with integrity in his soul, but who has had to operate in the murky world of US politics. A world which leaves no-one unscathed. It's not whether Biden doesn't have a history or regrets. It's whether the USA, and the rest of the world, would be better off with him or Trump. We hold different opinions about that and in a few weeks will know where the balance of opinion in the USA is. Although we actually can be 99% sure the popular vote will be in Biden's favour and only the electoral college system could interfere with him becoming POTUS.
For the avoidance of doubt any comments in response to a previous post are directed to its ideas and not at any, or all, posters personally. |

Both candidates parties treading with care. Because the major fail of Hilary Clinton in the last election was (para-phrased) "Would you want this man (Trump) in charge of the USA Justice System ?" And Trumps reply destroyed her "Because if i was in charge of Justice (in relation to Hilary's unsecured emails) you'd be in jail. Both sides are being very considered and very careful, and Trump has the Covid "sympathy card" up his sleeve. Even though his actions were reckless in catching it in the first place Edited by Forest Hillbilly (08 Oct 2020 1.27pm)

Let the record show that I presented you with the opportunity to explain how any of these Biden quotes were 'twisted' (your word) in terms of their truth. Instead you want to complain that they aren't being kind to him and accepting his excuses. Remember, that post was in response to you claiming that Biden was a man of integrity. You weren't qualifying that statement until I showed the actual truth. I put it to you that 'integrity' isn't compatible with someone who has openly lied to audiences all through his political career.....Perhaps you should ask 'cornpop'. Due to demographic change the Republicans are on borrowed time, whether they lose here or in 24....The Democrats could literally put up a man suffering from early stage dementia and still win....oh wait. It has nothing to do with the quality or reason of the arguments....it's a similar situation to Khan in London. It doesn't matter how bad he is.

I wonder what the odds are on either of these prime examples of American manhood not reaching polling day? Must be pretty high although Donald is looking pretty fit after his make-over, but he could be a wreck who knows, he is obese. And Joe well he just keeps rolling along, suspicious but its got him through a long life already. Joe would be best, a period of boredom and complete USA inactivity can only benefit the world. If either of them get in, they are not likely to last long. Put it this way guys, 'don't buy any long-playing records'.........

The debate likely didn't change anything really though, it was low on substance and policy but balanced enough than anyone in either camp is unlikely to have been swayed. Independents will likely wait until further Trump vs Biden debates, if that is, they actually happen. Edited by BlueJay (08 Oct 2020 2.37pm)

These virtual format debates and meetings are pretty lame, but at the same time, Biden is no spring chicken so I can understand organisers being wary of putting him physically around someone who clearly doesn't care less about who he spreads the virus to. It looks to me like the second debate will be a right off. That certainly makes the third debate higher stakes.
