Only three goals scored, but the fewest goals conceded in the PL so far. Of course this is largely due to playing ten men behind the ball, but with Sakho back (and the gently introduction of Camarasa) we might be a bit braver going forward.

Here's hoping.

Football is a results game. No one can argue with our 2019 results so far. Surely Roy should be lauded, especially with the limited resources at his disposal:

I think most of the fan ire has been directed to Parish and that’s probably fair. If we did get a record points tally again this season it would be on Roy pretty much single handedly.

But ultimately his sometimes negative tactics and decisions to play certain players and styles are because of the fact that he has been hamstrung by the board and not given the tools he needs.

Despite fans questioning the way we play at times, Roy is doing a remarkable job with the tools at his disposal. I’m sure we would all love to see Meyer and Camarasa playing neat one twos and pulling the strings, but the fact is we don’t have a full balanced team that can play that way. The people calling for these players to play when we are 7 points from 4 are people who don’t really understand football.

I’d love to see what Roy is capable of after being backed significantly in the next window, I really think we could kick on.

My one criticism is that he doesn’t give the kids enough of a chance, but that may be because they are not good enough. I’d love to see Kirby get 5-10 minutes here and there.

More extremes again. Before I say this, I was pleased to see us flashing balls across the goal vs villa and not the Zaha dribble show. There were But we can play one attacking midfielder, especially if we played a 4-2-3-1 or 4-4-3, which is balanced and very possible.

Always happy to admit when I am wrong!!!!!
The 2019 stats are incredible actually and other comments on here about Hodgson being hamstrung by others is a fair call - I pretty much said that anyway.
I would like fresh blood still at the end of the season but it seems that he and Lewington have done a better job than I give them credit for!
We could still try and win games at home better than we do - some dreadful losses within that form guide - but overall I am and was happy - I just want us to be more adventurous sometimes and take the easier games by the scruff of the net, make substitutions earlier and so on.
Gob shut on this one now - for now anyway!

Considering we are plus 40m in the bank and BHA are minus 67m in this transfer window looking at the 19 table not to shabby.

I have the odd occasion where I get frustrated with Roy but I think he is great for our club and the best we are going to get at this moment. He knows how to play in this divison and he is tacticaly miles ahead of most managers in this division.

4 games in and we have conceded the least amount of goals in the division and that is without our first choice centre back pairing and losing our right back. You can say what you like about Roy but he knows how to organise a team.

I couldn't care less how we win I just want 3 points on the board by 5pm Saturday or else my day is in tatters.

People out there praising the likes of Potter for having a go at City but they lost 4 nil. That wont be the only time they lose 4 nil this year. The game was over as a contest within a few minutes. We are very rarely completely out of games in the 80th minute.

An interesting statistic from the Times yesterday.
On the Average Age of Starting X1s in the Premier League at the weekend Palace were bottom of the table with an average age not far short of 30 years old (Chelsea were top at 24 years old).
That’s probably ok for this season but quite clearly the squad is getting older and fresh blood will be needed sooner rather than later.
It’s not as if we have a group of youngsters knocking on the door of the first team.
Younger players like Riedewald and Sorloth have not worked out and It will be necessary to improve our selection of this type of player to make sure we don’t go backwards taking into account an ageing squad.
Hodgson seems to prefer the mature experienced player but this is the last year of his contract so the club also has challenges in terms of succession planning.

Roy has 100 points from 76 games. That works out 50 a season which would be our Premier League record. Given the obvious flaws in the squad, that'a tremendous record and fourth in the calendar year. I honestly think now is the time for a one year contract extension.

This thread is quite pointless. Hodgson is doing a great job with what he's got - discussion of what the board is providing him to work with should be quite separate.

Been saying this from day one but we have to remember that players brought in are always going to be a gamble ..been saying that too from day one.

It will be a sad day, when he eventually retires.
