Just seems an odd stance to take (for any employer) when a lot of Brits are quite well qualified/experienced.
Perhaps Brits want realistic pay, and you prefer hiring people from less-developed countries because they are cheaper and/or more grateful ?

You are not involved in the 'Asian Wives' market ?

I don't racially profile, stereotype or engage in racism. And yes, you can be racist against white British. There are employment cases.

It is a shame that in my case a lot of Brits aren't quite well qualified or experienced.

I have no preference from where I hire, obviously. I am an HR Director. It would be against all of my training, experience and logic. I hire the person most suitably qualified, experienced and motivated.

I am outraged that people would assume anything else and have lept in with both feet due to their own prejudices.

A preference for employing from the nation the business is from, should in most cases (excepting understandable situations like foreign food restaurants) be the norm.

Even if they're not up to scratch. That's why McDonnell said we need to upskill Brits before sending foreigners on their way, otherwise we'll be f***ed. (I'm paraphrasing)

Wow, why? Surely it should be the best person for the job. I thought you were 'of the right'.

Does it count if the people you are looking to hire are already in the UK but not originally born in the UK? Or should they be sent home when not in use/when a local comes available?

Well if we had 'upskilled' Brits for the last 40 years we wouldn't need all this imported Labour.
Some of us have been saying that for years.

It should be the best person. All being equal between two people, the person from the host nation should get preference. This should be the same in every nation.

There is nothing wrong with foreigners working and living here. However, you should be in a position where the majority of the people applying are British. I understand that this isn't necessarily down to you but rather an environment that's the product of political and economic decisions.

I don't support those decisions that led to this outcome.

And ALL parties are guilty of trying to send every tom dick, and Mohamed to university, when clearly 1)a lot of people are not suited to university, and 2),some of the courses now aren't worth the paper they written on.And 3)There should be a return to technical collages so we can train kids in the building trades and the like.

That is true in part. I assume that you will, therefore, be campaigning to reduce the cost of tertiary education and the debt burden on our young people.

For the Dublin to Holyhead ferry? Thought you might be a statistician with your immense grasp of immigration figures.

Burden?
The amount you pay back for university fees is piddly.

Or..

We just improve access to courses that are more practical and reduce the costs so that people who will end up earning relatively low amounts don't get stuffed with massive debt. And we also emphasise the post education element by having proper, well paid, apprenticeships like in Germany.

Reintroducing technical colleges is not a panacea, it is rose tinted spectacles. It doesn't matter if we call the courses University as long as they address the needs.

And by the way I don't see many courses that are 'not worth the paper they are written on', there is no such thing. Especially as people pay so much for them.
