To me, people post on HOL because they want to influence others, be taken seriously and add new angles to discussions. staffie was one of the rare breed able to do that effortlessly. We would alway look forward to his posts, they were invariably sage and interesting. He also did a great deal of work for the benefit of everyone here and even his last post was selfless. We in the Mapletree household were stunned at his sudden passing, which still seems somehow unreal. We didn't know him yet he felt like an old friend. He will be sorely missed and always remembered.

On another topic, does anyone know what has become of staffie's dog (which I guess is a staffie?) If he was estranged from his family I am concerned that this poor, grieving canine hasn't got a permanent home.

You even always PMed me links for match of the day every week when I lived in Oz (without me having to ask each week!!).
