People take a singular reason why war could occur and run with it. Of course in the states the GOP and democrats have differing ideologies with regard to intervention. Of course oil and weapons contractors lean heavily towards trying to get an outcome they desire. All of these things can be true at the same time. It's a mishmash of influences, none of which really have anything to do with the common mans voice though.

We see much of what goes on through the prism of a media which is said to be free but exists within very narrow parameters. At the same time though we have more access to information than ever with all of these leaks that occur and so on. People are told what you think, you're brought up to question the motives of nations outside of your belief system. You have to teach yourself to think about these matters and most people simply don't have the time of inclination to do so.

You forgot to mention the international bankers who earn far far more from war than any of the above.

there seems to be a media black-out over Iraq and Syria.
I've seen some horrible pictures and video in the last week of public beheadings and crucifixions. Hundreds of off-duty unarmed Iraqi soldiers, just butchered.

You have to dig a little to find these on the internet, and I'm not going to post any links.

The US defence person was sacked this week over failure to address ISIS, IS, ISL.

Make no mistake. This is a well-organised group of people. Adept at money-laundering, acquiring of arms, radicalising of people, training of militia and spreading of fear using modern media and conducting atrocities.

All of the above are conducted under a so-called religious banner.

People at the top of IS are getting very rich, whilst puppeteering the divs to do their dirty work.

There is a meeting this week at the UN to discuss further action against IS.
They are all shltting themselves as they know ground troops are inevitable. Also inevitable, is the first captured allied soldier being beheaded on TV/internet.

fear is preventing action. But then again, fear is what keeps our own Governments in control of their own population.
It really is 1984

and Bush dubya and Blair are completely responsible for this. If ever any beheadings were to be condoned,....

Economy in need of stimulus, a good old fashioned war is just what it needs, to justify pumping huge amounts of treasury funds into large corporate interests.

In terms of IS, I think that the reluctance to get directly involved stems from the political fallout from the initial invasion, occupation and insurrections in Iraq, but more centrally the situation regarding Afghanistan (where arguably the Taliban and allies are still quite active despite 10 years of occupation).

Had those two conflicts been a success, or more successful (dependent on your perception) then I think that troop deployment against IS would have been a certainty. Maybe even had Libya worked out better, they'd be more willingness to deploy fully (Libya is still fighting its civil war).

However post-Afghanistan and Iraq, the risk of being drawn into and caught up in an on going civil war in Syria (which could easily spill over into Iraq and Lebanon) is creating political cold feet.

people are being butchered and raped, and the Allies stand-by.
Going in all-guns-blazing could lose the next election.

Much better to stand and do nothing, and keep your own citizens in fear.
