The passenger is clearly asked to wear a mask or leave the train he refused in an aggressive manner what happened after that was down to him and his surly attitude to the police. If he can't wear a mask due to medical reasons then there is a certificate you can get you just show it to the police and it's "have a nice day, sir". I am surprised that some people on here who are pro law and order seem confused it's fairly black and white case of not co-operating with the police and then suffering the consequences.

If he had explained that he couldn't wear a mask before he got all "you can't touch me" I think it would have been a different outcome. I agree. The vast majority of people wear a mask on public transport, plus it's the law. The only condition this guy has was being a bit of a c***, plus as you rightly say he had plenty of opportunity to behave in an adult fashion, rather than imagine he's more important than everyone else traveling that day. Nor should we be encouraging people to even entertain the idea of taking advantage of exceptions put in place for people with genuine health problems. It's funny, on here you see videos of blacks stateside getting shot in the back or suffocated, and to be honest very little sympathy even though what happened to them in these cases was vastly disproportionate to what they did. What is without exception said though is that they should've just obeyed the law to the letter and they wouldn't have been in that situation. People want to have their cake and eat it. If the police have been called, and you've broken the law and are mouthy, refuse to comply with the law, refuse to leave the train, resist arrest, what on earth do you think is going to happen next? At least the guy is still alive to act like a prick on another day. His high pitched whining is as irrelevant to me as the other passengers on that journey clearly were to him. Put a mask on, on public transport. It's not difficult. Edited by BlueJay (04 Sep 2020 1.20pm)

If objecting to wearing a mask on a train during a pandemic is where you decide to 'take on the man', I'm sure that's something those in power are more than happy with. There are plenty of times people should've stood up to the government, this doesn't even make the list.

I completely disagree. Wearing a mask should never have been compulsory and I suggest you are justifying the over-reach of the state even by accepting it. This guy was physically attacked by the state.

What is being missed here is that you do not have to prove you are exempt from wearing a face covering. It should be taken as read by the Police if he says he does not have to wear one. If they had dragged him of the train, he suffered an asthma attack and died as a result of an over zealous copper, where would that have led? I am the staunchist supporter of our Police and will back them to the hilt under normal circumstances, however this is quite simply poor policing and in the end the copper just didn't want to lose face by letting it go.

How he got away with what he did is unbelievable and goes to show that the wheels within wheels turn for you regardless of which side of the political fence you are if you are high enough up the food chain.

Guys, regardless of whether it is beneficial and the arguments in either direction for that, its not compulsory for all. This is cut and pasted directly from the .Gov website: "Exemption cards Some people may feel more comfortable showing something that says they do not have to wear a face covering. This could be in the form of an exemption card, badge or even a home-made sign. This is a personal choice and is not necessary in law."

Well yeah wearing a mask is not the end of the world and I would simply conform. The plod were out of order here though, thankfully he wasn't armed and lost his cool as in the USA. Emergency powers are inherently risky, and made in panic. I still haven't seen any real evidence, the NHS site just says it 'may' reduce risk. The masks look like disease spreaders to me, like handkerchiefs were, they get left around and are re-usable not exactly healthy. As for being surly and uncooperative dear B, Mrs May was well known for it.
