In a just world the exaggeration of this problem would have some form of consequence for those who supported it. The cure has been and will continue to be far worse than the virus. [Tweet Link]

The government had its lockdown boots on well before the general public had even got out of bed really, so we're fooling ourselves if we think the opinion of the general public this way or that at any stage actually means much of anything.

Edited by BlueJay (28 Aug 2020 4.59am) Wards in all hospital depts and Covid wards all over the country have been empty for months. Our family friend will possibly die soon because he wasn’t being seen. Her point is no doubt Covid and our reaction to it is creating a really big health and death problem in other illnesses in the U.K. and the NHS. ‘But one Covid death is one too many.’

Not well before at all seeing as though the hindsight lefties claim we should’ve locked down a week earlier saving thousands of lives. That’s actually debatable seeing as firstly most of the deaths at that time were in care homes and it now looks as though hard lockdown countries outside of SE Asia are experiencing bigger and more virulent return of Covid. But more to the point, we locked down everyone to protect mainly the very elderly and then a few million more with low immune systems. We knew after the first few weeks who this was killing. Once we knew thousands upon thousands weren’t going to be filling up hospitals and on ventilators we should’ve been honest to the public and told them what the risk really was. The economic suicide and long term damage to health and death from other illnesses takes some believing when you know who is at risk, who isn’t and the percentage risk of all groups we knew early in. All of the ‘we’re learning about the disease and we don’t know enough and didn’t early on’ is a load of pony and excusing our lack of backbone. But they don’t mind saying we should’ve locked down earlier which it’s turning out to be more and more difficult to prove if that would’ve been more beneficial anyway. Just different people would die or possibly more eventually.

The government downgraded covid as a high-consequence infectious disease on 19th March, when they knew that mortality was low. The lockdown was intended to prevent the NHS being overrun. We were discussing it on here. What’s continued is an absolute disgrace and lazy policy by all political parties. Truly pathetic, but that’s suitable for the weak and soft population. Average age of Covid death? 82. Always has been.

Yep. Knew that. But it’s essential kids wear masks for the rest of the country or stay out of school for months.
