Roy's press conference was cancelled but before that there was the Glasner story doing the rounds suggesting Roy's about to binned.
Now they say Roy's been taken ill.
Something strange is going on.

Palace wise it's been a very strange day for sure. Apparently collapsed and taken to hospital on the same day as we sack him, we couldn't have picked a worse day.
Hopefully he's ok

It's all a bit of shame the way it is all panning out. No argument from me that there should be a change but Roy's a loyal guy and has generally done what's necessary until recently, with one or two poor comments about the fans.
If it's a smoke screen about him being ill at training so as to sidestep his having to do a press conference today and clearly with another manager having been spoken to in the background, he deserves better than this to be fair.

Felt bereft with the Holmesdale down. Had to resort to talking to my wife at one point.

Anyway, very odd what's going on. Surely they wouldn't lie and say he's been taken ill just to mask him being sacked?

Fabrizio Romano saying that he's gone and Glasner has been appointed. All very weird.

We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold...

The entire Internet would have to be down for me to do that.

Totally agree, definitely feels like a smokescreen to avoid embarrassing Roy.
I hope he's gone and enjoys his retirement.
We need to move on as a football club.

I genuinely laughed out loud, I'm still giggling, mostly as I was in exactly the same boat.

Anyone got the Romano link?

I sincerely hope Roy is OK of course but that is separate to football where I hope he has been replaced by Glasner.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

Roy may pull the plug on Palace, like Big Sam, and it may not be his last club.

He looked disenchanted, it's hardly enjoyable, does he like the modern game?

The Guardian's headline is "taken ill" in quotes. Make of that what you will. He also was in and out of hospital very quickly. I thought you guys had to stick around 8 hours to be seen!

Paddy managed the game at Villa. We played pretty well, as I recall, but gave up 3 goals from the 87th minute on.

I don't think it is a smoke screen, I think both stories are true and just unfortunately landed on the same day.

Glasner has, by all accounts, signed a two year deal and Roy to be relieved of his duties.

At the same time, he's also had a health scare at the training ground and been rushed off to hospital.

The whole thing is so odd. If the media is to be believed and the club had already decided to sack Roy and replace him with the Austrian guy why did they announce a press conference for today? Last week it was held on the Friday as we were playing Monday. They could have held off, announced their decision and got Paddy or someone to speak to the press tomorrow. Also, if Roy was taken ill and if he was told he was being replaced today then you would imagine the two have to be related? This is all turning into a PR disaster and can't be good heading into Monday's important game.

Let's hope this is all dealt with swiftly, Roy gets a clean bill of health and we have a new manager in place by the weekend. They won't have time to do much, but it would help the players to know what's happening and to have someone to impress, I would imagine.

The reports I've seen suggest Lewington and Paddy McCarthy will be in charge on Monday - I'm not sure if this is just because the club haven't formally announced Glasner, or whether that is actually the plan.
