Roy out!!!! That’s what I say.

How dare we are only sitting fourth in the world biggest league.

Bloody disgraceful particularly when you consider he was given so much transfer money during the summer.

I have made the point a few times already in this thread that I can't see this happening as the sort of people who are willing and able to fund the club to the next level will probably want 100% control and I can't see Parish giving up his high profile position as a Premier Football Club chairman

This I agree with. I think there will be claw marks all the way down the corridors at Selhurst Park the day Parish leaves. At some point (some say right now) Parish remaining in charge is going to start to hold the club back.

It's a fair question.

The third best (form) team in 2019!

The facts however, are at odds with most fans' feelings. And being Palace, we are pessimistic, realistic, ambitious and humble all at the same time. Such confusion cannot be daunted by facts alone.

As for Roy, I don't criticise him much and have respect for his commitment and experience however, as football fans, we think with blurred, biased, impassioned minds and the crappy defeats this year stand out like sore thumbs:

Brighton at home.
Watford in the cup.
Sheffield Utd
Pre-season!
Spurs in their first game at their new place (we rolled over)
Colchester!

Without those, perhaps we'd all be more in tune.

Do you not think you question Roy everytime he plays Benteke ?

As I said elsewhere the stats don't lie but I am one who would like to see fresh blood come the end of the season.
We are difficult to beat most of the time but he is stuck in his ways, he is too predictable and we don't have a plan B.
A season is played over 38 games so let's see what happens this season.
Saturday should have been a draw bar the dreadful refereeing decisions so maybe you wouldn't think the same had that been the case!
In his defence he can only work with what he is given but sometimes I wish he would change things rather than be happy with a narrow defeat!

I think most of the fan ire has been directed to Parish and that’s probably fair. If we did get a record points tally again this season it would be on Roy pretty much single handedly.

But ultimately his sometimes negative tactics and decisions to play certain players and styles are because of the fact that he has been hamstrung by the board and not given the tools he needs.

Despite fans questioning the way we play at times, Roy is doing a remarkable job with the tools at his disposal. I’m sure we would all love to see Meyer and Camarasa playing neat one twos and pulling the strings, but the fact is we don’t have a full balanced team that can play that way. The people calling for these players to play when we are 7 points from 4 are people who don’t really understand football.

I’d love to see what Roy is capable of after being backed significantly in the next window, I really think we could kick on.

My one criticism is that he doesn’t give the kids enough of a chance, but that may be because they are not good enough. I’d love to see Kirby get 5-10 minutes here and there.

I suppose when you have got your fingers burnt as badly as Parish has with Benteke and Wickham it’s not surprising he is cautious when it comes to new strikers.
A lot could happen between now and January. If Ayew continues his unbelievable rise then far less pressure will be on transfers.
After Colchester it does look like Wickham is finally at the end of the road at Palace. He is just too slow now. Big injuries like his normally end a career at top level for strikers. He was slow before it but now he needs to move down to save his mind. Beats me why he was offered a new contract.

Speaking to someone yesterday who has close contacts with the club. He said that there had been 1 serious offer but they wanted 100% control, which SP was not prepared to do. Not sure how true this is (if at all) but it would not surprise me

Yet Wickham got a new contract and Benteke has been offered one.

I don't think anybody could have foreseen such a spectacular loss of form from Benteke. But with Wickham, well that's football. Any given player at any time can get a serious injury.

Persisting with these two is the difficulty.

I keep hoping Benteke will rediscover himself but that looks increasingly unlikely. As for Wickham, sadly I think he no longer has what it takes at this level.

We are now pinning our hopes on one in-form player up top.
